the past. MeMories oh memories how ,
beautiful you can. be . But we must be
realists - as the Good Book says "Old men
dream dreams and y,outtg men see
visions".
On a recent visit to .the .aiea,as I was
reminiscing on the good old.days in Dublin.
as I drove along Highway 401 within a
short while three or four Cronin Transport
trucks from Dublin passed me by. On a
turn off from 401 I slowed down for a large
bridge construction job and upon looking I
observed that the contractor was booby of
Dublin, In my travels throughout the
provinces these are familiar_sights along
the way and these sights give me of feeling
of pride; the village lives on. .
Health permitting, I hope to wend my
way to Dublin for the Centennial
Celebration on July 1st, I hope to find a
place to, stand some where near the
railroad tracks..; And as I lea towards the -
cemetery and recall the stalwart men and • •
women who built this rommupity and are
now resting in peace. when I hear the first
refrain of the band and when' the parade
begins to move down the street and when
the people begin to cheer. 1 know that there,
••vill be pride in my • heart as the first
`hundred years of the Police Village of
Dublin comes to an end. My hope at that
moment will probably be that as the torch
is passed to a new generation that-they will
rise to the chilleTfge and-the-ttext-rent ury—
for Dublin .will be as glorious ,its the last.
