DARLING HOME—This house on the east of Dublin.was once the
home of Alec Darling, who owned one of, the area's haypressers.
The house was built at the turn of the century and now sits empty.
LOOBY HOME—The red brick Looby home -was built in 1908 by
LouiS Looby, founder of .Looby Construction Ltd. and members of
the family have lived in the home ever since. The home is now

DOMINION HOUSE—The. Dominion House, on Mill Street, is one
of Dublin's surviving hotels although it is now a private residence.
The original, Dominion Hotel owned by Charles Prendergast, burned
in the.1879 fire. However, ,Prendergast rebuilt' a new three-storey '
brick hotel on the same site. Other owners of the hotel included
Jacqb Weber, Francis and John B Aoehler, Charles McDaid, Joe^
Evans, Patrick Judge and R, Beniteau of. Listowel, the last. man to
operate a hotel in the building. (Expositor Photp)
EARLY HOME—The Herb Brown home, orr the west of Dublin, is
one of Dublin's most historic homes. The property was originally
purchaged from the Crown in 1830 and sold to Robert Donkin, a
surYeyor who was the first settler on the Hibbert side of the village.
It was Donkin who named the village Carronbrook after the small
river which flows through the village. In 1877, Donkin moved to Port
Rowan and sold his hbme to John Kidd, who subsequently sold the
house to Matt Williams in 1894. The house has been raised and
sided since it was originally built by Donkin. (Expositor Photo)
