A 1977 GMC bus has been
purchased for the Huron-Perth
County Roman Catholic Separate
School Board, Gregory Fleming,
Crediton, chairman of the
transportation committee,
informed the beard at a meeting
in Dublin Monday eight.
He said the bus purchased from
F. Elliott Motors of Belleville for
$15,600 will be delivered this
month. The66-passenger bus will
replace a 1970 GMC ,btis in
Zurich.
The board will renew the lease
with the Town of Goderich for two
classrooms in the former St.
Peter's Separate School from
September 1, 1978 to August 31,
1979, for the sum of $1,800 up
from $1,600 last year.
The board supported a
resolution from the Kent County
Board of Education to the
Solicitor General's office to
introduce legislation to permit the
responsibility for the acts of
children to rest with the parents
On May 27, seven Sisters of St.'
Joseph, including .Sister Isidore
Coyne celebrated their jubilee
commemorating their fifty years
of devoted service to the Lord in
the community of the Sisters of ,
Sr. Joseph, London. Many friends
and relatives attended.
This year, Sister Isidore is
stationed at St. Jciseph's
Convent, Seatbrth. Therefore, the
members of her family, Joe, Port
Boner, Matt, Brantford, Lew,
Seaforth, Mike, Seaforth, Sister
Matilda, London and Sister Rita,
Yellowknife (although she was
linable to attend) agreed to use
the jubilee as an occasion for a
family get together.
On Saturday, June 10, at two
o'clock, the ceremony began in
St. James' Church, Seaforth, with
High Mass offered by ,Father
Laragh. Parish Priest, with Mrs.
Vincent Lane a girl friend of
Sister Isidore at the organ, and
Mrs. Paul Malone, a niece of the
jubilarian reading the epistle.
During the mass, Sister Isidore
publicly renewed her vows.
' Following Mass. the guests
drove to •the home of Lew and
Mary Coyne 43 Ann Street for a
reception with the Coyne men and
their wives acting as hosts. At
five o'clock-the guests proceeded
to St. Columban Hall in Sister
Isidore's home parish, to partake
of a banquet catered by Mrs. Van
present there is a 20-
minute French period each day.
This -will eta travelling time' for
the itinerant French teachers.

teachers for existing staff

of responsibility for a one-year

Lions Club
The board granted the Seaforth
Lions Club permission to use its
corner property in Seaforth
located at Goderich and Coleman
Streets for a parkin area during
the Lions, Carnival to be held July
21, 22 and '23. The Lions Clul
indicated the parking Would be
supervised.

=vent and Neil Doyle, cousin of
the Jubilarian for a few remarks.
He then called on Sister Isidore

members of her family for the
beautiful and cooperative way
they had arranged and carried out
the celebration. She also
extended her sincere than ks.,te all
the guests for helpingto make her
jubilee such a memorable event.
Before calling on Father Laragh
to Say the final grace, the
chairman paid special tribute to
MrS. Lew Coyne and Mrs: Mike '
Coyne for the special part they
played in arranging the whole
celebration. Lew Coyne moved a
hearty vote of thanks to the
caterers for preparing and
serving the meal.
The guests returned to 43 Ann
Street where • they spent a
pleasant evening playing cards
and reminiscing . childhood
events. Before they left, Mrs.
C.ovne served lunch.

replied that there are eight
IMPACT classes in.four schools --
two at St. Patrick's School,
Dubli n, two at St. Marys School
Goderich, two at •St. Joseph's
School, Stratford, and two at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel School,
Mount Carmel. He said the
IMPACT classes have their roots
in Special Education classes.
Mr. Mills said to date eight
teachers were trained in the

the local library by the council in
memory of the late Mrs. Alice.

Michigan. He said he expects 10
teachers to be given tiaining
beginning in October so that more
schools will have the progfam.
Mr. Mills. said Impact
(Instructional-Model Program for
Ali Children and Teachers) is
designed to allow the teacher to
effectively meet the needs of all
students.

A salary increase of 5.9 percent
came into effect, subject to
anti-.inflation board approval, for

employees. The 1978 agreement
was signed Thursday night. The
salaried workers, members of the
Canadian Union of Public
Employees Local 1305, have been
without a contract since January
The board of health signed the
agreement on May 24, but CUPE
officials did not sign until

Salaries with the 1977 contract
in brackets are: health inspectors
from $14,050 to. $16,550 ($11.200
to $15,700); dental hygienists,

$13,465); clerical workers 56,900
to $9,500 '($6.400 to $8,650);
dental assistants and clerk
technicians $7,400 to $8,800
($6,900 to $7,950).
