About 18 Seaforth people
attended the family picnic and
Memorial Day celebration in
. sister city, West Branch,
Nfichigan, Saturday.
No American beds were
entered in the first international
bed race because, according to
Mayor Betty Cardno Who
attended, the West Branchers
didn't knout how to go about
constructing a racing bed.
"Now they've seen opts and
they said they'd be up here to
race later in' the summer," at
,Seaforth's familY picnic, the
mayor said.
Seaforth's entries, one by the
firemen and, cone, by Jim gasdno.,, r
won the race by default and the I.
firemen's bed suffered a broken
axle.
The. Seaforth visitors enjoyed
themselves and found West
Branch very friendly
accommodations reasonably
'priced. Some Michigan 'people '
may attend this weekend's
Optimist Mardigras„ Mayor
Cardno said. .
FOur Seaforthites arrived in
West Branch in style. They were
Mr. and Mrs. Dull Hopper and
Mr. and Mrs, Tom Phillips who
dew over in the Hopper airplane .
