$114,457 in 1977. These expendi-
tures include storm and sanitary
sewers and garbage disposal. The
largest expenditure of $80,000 is
for the continuing expansion
program of storm sewers in. the
town.
This . year, the arena and
cultural 'and recreational services
budget has been' divided, with
expenditures of $19,635 for arenas
services and $31,168' for cultural
and recreational 'services. Some
of last year's major expenditures
on arena renovation were
recovered with Wintario grants
from the provincial goverem,ent.
The 1,978 costs include wages for
the-arena manager, and partial'
wages 'for the recreation, director
and his'assistants, and expendi-
tures for chairs ($421), bar
changeover635)($800) and lights ($

A tie vote loses and that's what
happened, to a resolution asking
the Huron board of education to
remove three books from its
reading lists when it came up at
Seaforth council Monday night.
The resolution, from the
township of Turnberry, has been
circulated to municipalities in the
county. Seaforth's finance ,and
general government committee
reported it had split ee the issue

for a recorded vote on the

Prime Minister Trudeau recently
announced that there would be no summer
election although he had local politieians and
opposition parties on edge waiting for an

she thought it was quite wise of Trudeau not
to call an election.
She said she couldn't think of anyone who

these promises but' once they 'get in it's a
different thing," she said.
"I feel that Canada is as good a place as any
to be living right now. I really feel that Canada
has a good living," she said.
Mrs, Bill Taylor of Queen STreet in Hensall
said she was glad that TrUdeau hadn't called
the election.
She said that the public opinion of him was
such that he was better to hold off right now
till people.,get their trust back in him.".,
Mrs. Lawrence Cook of Mill Street in Dublin
said.
"I suppose it put a lot of local politicians
wondering what to do," She added that we
didn't neeehan election till next year.
Mrs. Bert Mahaffy of R. R. #2, Staffa said,
"It doesn't sound as if he wants one. It was
sort' of a letdown, I guess, to some people."
