Huronview, presented a painting of a Hensall street scene to Reeve Harold Knighi
at this week's council meeting. The painting, done from the window of Mrs. Peck's
former home at 84 King Street, will hang in the town's municipal office.

month of May. Bingo was played
on Monday afternoon. Last
Tuesday evening the • Clinton
Calvinettes entertained the re-
sidents. "Birthday Greetings" to
Alex Barrett whose birthday is
May 14th.
A variety of topics was
presented at the May meeting of
Unit four of the Hensall United
Church Women on Thursday,
May 4,, in the Fellowship Hall.
\President, Mrs. James McAllister
presided and opened the meeting
by reading from the Upper Room
on "Fruits of the 'Spirit." Mrs.
Len Purdy gave the devotional
based on, "What is 'the full
meaning of meditation?", Mrs.
Rena Caldwell told of a trip to the
Caribbean and had something of
interest to tell about the different
islands-, the people, the products
and the political situation. Mrs.
Sim Roobal conducted a "Bible
Quiz, assisted by Mrs. Russell
Erratt.
56 visits were made to sick and
shut-ins during the month. The
meeting concluded with the
singing of a hymn and prayer.
Mrs. George Afmstrong and her
-committee served lunch.

Mrs. Amilea Louise (Bender)
Schroeder paised away at the
Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich on
Tuesday May 2nd in her 96th
year. She was the wife of the late
omon' Schroeder and sent
most of her life in this area.
Surviving is one son Edward
Herbert Schroeder,' R
Hensall, four grandchildren and
four great grandchildren. Five
brothers and one sister. pre-
deceased.
. Funeral service was held '-from
the Westlake , Funeral' Home,
Zurich on Friday May 5th at 2
p.m. with Rev. Al. 'Blackwell
officiating. 'Interment in. St.
'Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Ron
Schroeder, Ken Schroeder,
George Sweeney, Lee Desjardien,
Ellwood Storey and Lloyd Storey:

Ascension Day has a double
significance, both as the end of
the early life of Christ and the
beginning of the reign of Christ.
The cross was the climax' of His
early life where He offered
Himself freely. From then on the
apostles received the power of the
Spirit and a vigorous Spirit makes
a vigorous Church". The Spirit fills
the Church by filling each one of
us.
Guest soloist, Mrs. Marlene
Thornton, of Exeter, sang, "Fill
my cup, Lord" and "God hath not
Promised", accompanied by Dr.
Ralph Tpp.p at the organ. Unit one
meet on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Next Sunday will be Christian
Family Sunday, when the
Sacrament of Infant Baptism will
be held.
Mr. and Mrs. John McGuire
and family of Erin and Jordie
Smith of London, visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Smith 'over the
weekend.
The President Mrs. Harvey
Hyde presided for the May
.meeting of W.M.S. of Carmel
Presbyterian -Chureh and opened'
the meeting with a poem "House:
cleaning". Mrs. Malcom Dougall
had the devotional program
"Ilibles and Libels" giving an
outline of tlie work. of the Gideon
Society and the Bible Society.
Presbyterian Rally will be held in
Hensall May 17th at 1:30 p.m.
The Hensall and District
Kinettes met for their April
meeting on Wednesday, April 26
at the home of . ,Mrs... Debbie
Rcgier with all. members present.
Elections for 1,978-79 took place
with the following taking office.

The Kinettes decided to hold
their Spring Rummage Sale on
Thursday evening, May 25 in the
new Hensall arena. Following the
business, a chinesc auction was

at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening
and the Senior Choir practise will
be at 7:30 p.m. The church •
service next Sunday, May 7thovill
be at 10:30 a.m. With Dr. Fox in
charge.

spent the weekend visiting her
parents, Mr. and • Mrs. .Harvey
Hyde.
Mrs. Hazel Luther who has
spent the winter months with her
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Eric Luther and her 'son-in-
law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Slade and family, left on
Saturday for Halifax and St. John
for 'a few weeks visit prior to
taking up residence in her home
on the Bay.

recently in Leamington. The next
