Although St. ThOmas won the game handily, it was ' more a result of St. Coliimban!s .inability to get .anYlhing. going than their good ptay. S. Columban started the game str gly and had several excellent cha ceS to score in the opening 15 mi tes. However, from that poi t on everything seemed to go do nhill. The wind picked up and the players spent as, much time chafing the ball out of bounds as they did on the field of play. M. Thomas took a 1-0 halftime lea on a head ball from a low corner kick. They increased their lead to 2-0 early in the second half on a penaltyrshotihat goaltender Frank,Verberne made a valiant effort to.stop. Shortly thereafter, St. Thomas took advantage of a defensive mixup and scored their first goal 'of the game. St. Cohimban got somewhat untracked for the final 15 minutes of the game and Richard Verberne scored to make the final ..score 3-1 in favour of St. Thomas. A better effort will be expected from all players this Sunday when the "A" team hosts Delhi at 3 p.m. No games are scheduled for the "B" team. A request from an East William Street resident for parking on both sides of the street, .south of Franklin, was denied because of Street width and the proximity of ttie arena. Street lights requested on West and Coleman Streets 'will be installed as part of.1978 work. Council agreed that it was the. owner's responsibility to supply 'a hook-up from Elizabeth Street to the existing storm sewer on Isabella Street. Council agreed that Silver Creek Subdivision could eliminate a cul-scle-sac at the west end of pexander Street since the street could co-inside with the extension of Side St., provided the engineer assures proper banking at the end of Alexander Street to ensure water flows into the storm sewer. Council disagreed with a resolution from the town of Milton that a deterrent fee be charged. ,hospital users and agreed' with a suggestion .from Councillor Wayne Ellis that Milton rid MPP Jack Riddell be Seaforth Optimists plan a pro- gram ot _improvements at the town owned Optimists Park .costing about $10,000 council heard 'at its meeting Monday night. informed that a deterrent fee on visits to doctors would be a better way to cut 0141P costs.
