Mary's and,also many local riders
took part.
The Saddle Club thanked .th'e
people who bought poker hands
and supported the Saddle Club.
Riders ' enjoyed the Haney-
Leeming catering truck and
specialty of the day, Gramma
Riley's homemade pies.
some riders were lucky enough
to surprik a 'sleepy groundhog, .
muskrate, chirping birds and
enjoyed a quick visit to the Blue
Herony, ,one of the largest in .
Ontario.

tear opened their season with a
1-1 tie against London Portuguese.
Tho game was rather dull as ,
bgth teams seemed to be fighting
to control the ball. Danny Murray
scored for St.. Columban on
header ,into the top pf the net off a

' However, after St.
Columban scored, the Portuguese
pressed to the alfaerro'the final
15 minutes of the, game. They
were rewarded with a penalty
shot bnt goalkeeper Joe Verberne
who *yell a , strong game
throughout, stopped the shot.
Finally, with' 5 minutes to go in
the game, the London team tided
the score.

Rally April 23 in the Hullett
Conservation A r ea. 76 horses, of
various breeds,' colours and sizes
took. • part. Riding' was both
English and Western., The
weatherman just out-did himself
by supplying the warmest,
sunniest day 'we've yet to have
'this spring. . • --
First prize .money, 'Ins a
trophy, was won by Mrs. Jean
Dinsmore of Fordwich, Roy
Beuerman of Monkton placed
second, Bill Fidom, Belgrave,
Third and, Norma alley, Seaforth
placed fourth. • ,
The riders left in groups of 10,'
or 12 and each rider drew a card
at each, of the five 'stations,
;—making up a complete poker
hand. The winning hand
consisted of 4 ;aces, a poker-
player's dream. .
