It was , organized bye- Arne Kotanen, •head of the school history department. Keith P. Thompson, Perth County Board ,of Education' assistant director, said the Listowel project proved that religious programs could . be developed on a local basis. Mr. Tlioin pon made the comments at a meeting of the county board's ad hoc committee On religious and moral education in the schools, during a committee meeting here' Monday .,••• • The committee has had a series of public, meetings since it was organized in November and plans to set up a 'schedule of future meetings to ascertain if citizens, have any new suggestions. Establishment of any religious program is giving the committee, several, second thoughts about original plans. Among the Important issues introduced- at the Monday meeting were suggestions by three members of the clergy. Rev. J. V. Gleeson of Immaculate Conception Church in - Stratford, said he thought there should be a community' approaCh to the subject whereby the committee could determine if a religious course in one area would be acceptable in another area of the county.
