been erected here this summer is
now completed and will be opened on
Wednesday evening next, when a
grand concert will be given.
A harvest Ilou.e social will be
held in the Methodist church on Mon•
day evening next.
A free light took place here one
day this week. A lawsuitvis to
have followed in Winghatn on Wed-
nesday, but the parties canto to a
settlement before the ease came up
for hearing.
Mr, James McKelvie, of Wing-
itam, -was delivering fruit in this
vicinity on Wednesday.. Itis horse
became frightened of a threshing
engine, but no damage beyond a
broken dashboard resulted,

On Wednesday last the annual
fall show of the Morris Agricultural
Society was held on their spacious
grounds. The weather being some-
what
ome-what threatening all day, it did not
prevent the people from the surround
ing eonntry and other places from
attending, By noon there was an
immense crowd. The gate receipts
were over, $450.
On Wednesday evening the God-
erich, Amateur Co. gave one of their
theatrical performances to a large
crowd lir Industry hall, which prov-
ed a great success, financially and
otherwise.
It is rumored that we are to have
another printing office in town.
Mr. W Bennett is confined to the
house with typhoid fever.
Two of our townsmen, Messrs. Mc-
Larty and Boyle, intend leaving here
this week for Chesley where they
are starting up a brieloyard, •
Great Improvements are being
made in the interior of the Roman
Catholic Church here. Our painter
Mr. Steinhoff, is renovating the out-
side of the edifice with a fresh coat
of paint. It will be some time yet
before divine service can be held in
it.
On Sunday Rev. T. Armstrong
of Dungannon officiated in Trinity
Church, both morning and • evening
preaching excellent sermons to good
congregations.

The anniversary services of' the
Presbyterian Church, took place "on
Sunday and Monday. Rev, R. P,
McKay, B. A, of Toronto, preach --
ed two eloquent sermons to
large congregations on Sun-
day at 10.30 a. ni., and at 7 p. tn.,
Rev, Alexander Miller of Lochalsh
preached to a large eongregatiun in
the afternoon. The tea -meeting on
Monday evening, was largely attend-
ed. Tea was served in the basement
from. 5.30 to 7.30 p, m., after which
a meeting waS field in the auditor'
inm of ,tthe church at which Revs
Alex. Miller, Lochalsh; S. M. Whaley
I3, A., St Helens; W. J. West. M. A.
Bluevalo; and Andrew and Robert
Henderson, delivered. short addresses
Mr. S. Gracey, of Winghauu, gave
several readings which were well
received. -The eboir of the Wing-.
harm Presbyterian church, supplied
the vocal music for the occasion. The
total proceeds of the anniversary,
amounted to upwards of $116.00.
