We think that every farmer should put his
shoulder toethe wheel, and rally up a first

Corbett so liberally gave for that purpose.
We underetand that the factory will 'be

pay' every 'farmer' to idke shares in this
money-makieg enterprise. We wish the

Communications.
To the Editor of the Advocate.
DEAR SIR,—ln your last week's edition
we notice a communication from a 'W. H.
Hoyle, charging us with "gross exagger-
ations, ' and denying certain "facts"
that we may have mentioned in articles
referred to by him; and threatning us with,
dire calamity, if we darato adyertise diss-
reepectf ully of their association. Now we
cannot in a limited space give the facts
fully to the public, but will present some
interesting facts and letters to the public
this time, and in the luture we will deal
with these gentlemen as the occasion calls,
for. First we are charged with advertis-
ing for "revenge," because we were denied
admission to the association, which is of
itself a contradiction of the assertion, that
they do not "boycott.', We state emphat
ically that we have not applied to the
secretary, or any other Officer or men)her
of the Association for admission to memb-
ership, and those who insinuate and ass-
ert that we did, insinuate and assert that

Mr. Hoyle was the Mall that wrote the
nistructions mentioned in Simmon's lett er
of the 191;h of 'March, yet he has the efs
frontry to say we are mot "boycotted,"
whenthe wrote the order that put us
under the iboycott." What a nice mess
he has made of the whole affair, writing
such a foolish letter before enquiring if we
had proof. We will leave it to the pub-
lic if these men deserve to be called "ring
sters." Wi:h regard to the term "gigantic
fraud," as implied to the "ring;"'we mean
shat under the garb of educational, they
are pnictis:ng a. system of despotic tyrairy,
such as should not be tolerated ire any
free country. We will not give up our
independence at 'be command of these
gentry, and depending on the support of
the public, we will do all we ears to break
this grinding monopoly, and bring about
a state of things whereon every man will
hayeere. equal chance, and none will be
allowed. fevers. Much more will be shown
^about this associetion in due time, but for
the present allow us to remain the pub-

Huron Fall Assize.
The Fall Assizes opened at Goder-
ich, on Monday., October 24th, and was
presided over by his honor, Judge Rose
The civil list contained nineteen cases,
and the criminal docket light. After
the election of the. grand jury, the foll-
owing charge was delivered by his
lordship in the usual way with tire
legal considerations involved in the
discharge of their duties, lie also read
a circular from the Provincial Inspect-
or of Asylums, in regard to the large
nuniber of lunatics and idiots confined
in county jails owing to the lack of
proper accomodations. Prom this it
appears that the number of applicants
for admission -mi the first of September
west—Lunatics, 1.845 idiots, 295; of
these there are confined in jail,—lunat
ics, 102; idiots, 16. It will be always
found, however, both as to those who
Ilhich is false in every particular. We are in jail and the applicants from
have not joined, nor wil.l not joiu these_
without, that a considerable per,mntage
"Rinesters " in their attempt to crush are cases more at for local refuges,
county farms or poor hauses, than for
the asylums, and they cannot be per-
mitted in the ;asylums." A new cott-
age will be opened in November at
Hatniiton'which will have accomodat-
ion for 150 lunatics; and in the coming
year another cottage will be finished
with similar accomodations at the
sante place. Two cottages are also in
progress for idiots at Orillia, one to be
opened during the present autumn aed
the other early it) the year, these giving
additional accomodations to 200 of the
idiots. This will, it is hoped, not only
relieve the jails, but all our outstand-
ing applicants who are fit subjects for
admission to the asylums.
Richard Tiehburn was sworn to take
charge of the jury during the present
assizes,

The Queen vs, Alfred A, Rowe—
Tho and jury came into peed with

The Queen vs. Jacob McGee—The
opposition. We claim the fight to con-
duct any legal business in any dfiy, town
or village we choose, witlioat having to
get down tied lick the feet of our oppon7
ents, and efterwards be at the back and
call of a lot of monopolists. We will not
comine, to forms any other citizen to do
what we object to doing ourselves. For
be it known. to all that if any citizen wish-
es to conduct an Undertaking business,
he must, first, according to the "ring,"
get the consent of his three nearest oppon-
ents. What a farce I Wonder how inaay,
%maid give their coesent; at same thne
promise to adhere to a set of "east iron
by-laws." Out upon such it, syetem, we
want none of it; the only by-laws we will
submit to, is, that we pay one hundred
cents tM the dollar forgood4s. 'We are in
sythpathy with anything that Will tend to
elevate airy profession or trade; but any
systeflt that creates and fosters moitopoly,
WO 011 not support. Let the Ilridertak-
ers Association make the Educational and
scientific advancement their aim, we will
join them heart and hand, but 118 long as
their great tem is to keep up Monopoly,
arid grind !Joliet competition, we will fight
them to the end. It means for us a war
of eXistanee; against a War ol' extern:dilat-
ion. Our opponents have boasted time
and again that we could not obtain goods,
and therefore could riot carry on business,
which meant our ruin, 'Wheel ie the object
aimed at; but these "Rinoters" have viand ,jury ciente into ()mitt with a
done all they cen do, and new we defy "true bill" avast the prisoner for
them all, W. H. Hoyle not escepted.
