On friday evening towards eleven,
Mrs. Jas, M. Shephard died suddenly
at Ilei husband's residence, South
street, tenderloin it appears that Mr,
and Mrs. Shephard wore about re-
tiring for the night, and while the
deceased lady wassitting cn the bed,
her husband crossed the room. On
turning he saw that his wife had
fallen back, and cn reaching her
noticed that she was struggling to
breathe. hastily calling help he ran
for a doctor who reached the house
in a few minutes, but Mrs. Shephard
had passed to the world beyond.
Death was caused by heart failure
and was almost instantaneous.
TIIE TRAIL OF DEATH
It begins at the Throat
and ends at the Grave . How
many a human Life is unneces-
sarily sacrificed.
There are many remedies on the market for
the cure of consumption, but consumption, once
it reaches a certain stage, cannot be cured. In
professing, therefore, to do what is impossible, .
these remedies prove themselves to be simply
humbugs.
Consumption is a disease which destroys the
tissue of tate lungs. Once gone, no medicine can
replace that tissue. Gocd medicine may arrest
the .disease even after one lung i5 wholiy gone,
as long as the other remains sound. Once both
are attaci:cd, however, the 1•ictla is doomed.
just why people should risk their lives to this
dread disease and go to great expense afterwards
to check it, it is 110111 to conceive. It is much
easier prevented than cured. Throat troubles
and severe colds are its usual forerunners. A
25.cent bottle: of Dr. Chase's Syrup of Linseed
And Turpentine will drive these away. It is,
without doubt, the best medicine for the
purpose to be had anywhere.
