Tupper foe England, a big gathering of the party was held alt Toronto, and at Idols gathering, IIen. John Hag was proclaimed the future leade the party in Ontario. He. was pointed chairman of the C?i.tl r organization, and when Sit. C took his departure to look after' investments in England, he did with a light heart, tally believing be had brought the reealcitrary once more into line. Bat who this we rend ? The C i)naerva press a few days ago announced the plans were about aecornplis for the establishment of at new servative organization to be kno as the Toronto Liberal Conserve CIub. It starts with a capital $20,000, and the provisional diree are s ----I . F, Clark, M. P., E. Osler, M. P.; 0. A. !lowland ; A Kent ; Wm. Bell; Dr. J. 0. 0 John Laxton ; J, E. Seagram, M. C. A very signific' paragraph is the following which take from the published prospectu "It is believed that au instituti which would at all times, be east assessable at a nominal cost, to respectable people of the Conserv tive party, irrespective of ran wealth or station, would be t means of aeeomplishing much good. Is it possible, that those prominent Conservative leaders, whose names Tuve been omitted have no claim, in the minds. of the promoters of the new club, to that degree of respect- ability that is to be made the stan- dard upon. which the faithful are to qualify for membership. Wo are told the new elub is started in oppo- sition to the laid Albany Club from which centre the policy of the Con- servative party has been directed for many years. It rather looks as Vim an effort was to be mottle to revive 'Conservatism in all its objectionable features of exclusiveness and the more plebeian blood of the party is to be boycotted Anyway the feet has been made quite apparent that exception has been taken in certain quarters to Iiaggart's leadership end a continuance of the old leaders as the dictators of the party's policy for the future. And this is the for- midable opposition we are toldthatare going to put up a big fight against the government next session. They will require to draw their strength from some other source than unity, a• commodity not to be found in Tory quarters just now. gart r of up - do Chas. his s0 ones t is tine that bed Con- wn tive of ( to.z B. In this regard I have ;t worst to say this week and I am sure the majority of you will agree with me. In my last letter I laid before ti Yc)u it .ropy of a letter written by Chief Customs inspector McMichael to Mr. John A. Grosse of llorrtreal, regarding the polies* of extracting money, as he etaate'il, out of certain importers. Hardly had the latter been published than 1 was confronted ou the right anti left with the t'act that lleMichael was a Liberal in polities. I was told that I shoold not have published the letter on that account. Will you condemn me for doing so? As feu' as I am myself concerned it makes not <'t whit of difference to mo what a man's politics may be if I think his conduct should be investigsateci. I wilt make no distinction between crit and Tory. I ani now 'waiting to see what action the Controller of Customs takes to cause an inquiry to be made in connection with this matter. It is a deity be owes the business community to investigate. ri.tnn TO PLEASE. I have been remonstrated with fed, treating in a jocular way the many politica offence, and jobs I have brought to light in these letters. I have been told that there was a lack of dignity and seriousness about the way I handled tuy subject that detract- ed very much from the impression it was intended to leave behind. Well, I cannot change my nature and so am unable to please those who find fault with ole and who aro looking r the sack clo;h and ashes. If ley want ore to chant my reveht- ons ; to set them to psalm music, ley will have to get some other 'gen- to sound their dirges. Tile SE set role THE SCHOOL QUESTION. There are of course among my readers those to whom the recent settlement of the School Question 'will be satisfactory and those to whom it will be disappointing, all could not be pleased. That it is the best solution of the difficulty, which has kept the country in a state of ferment for five years., I am inclined to believe. Yet it is only a matter esfopiniori and his own opinion in this free country every one has a right to enjoy. For the time it bas been disposed of, but we are sure to hear of it again when Parliament meets. In substance the agreement 'which is to bo proved is an amend- mendment to the Manitoba School Act, by Premier Greenway when hie Legislature meets provides; 1st. Half an hour's religious teaching shall be authorized by the School Board or on the petition of parents. 2nd. In cities end towns forty Re - sten Catholie papiis, and In rural t iatriets. twenty five, may obtain a teacher of their own faith on peti- tion of parents and guardians, 3rd. In schools wherein ten pupils speak French, or languase other than .r nglish, as their native tongue, then teaching shall be conducted in _et aching or such other language, and English on the hi -lingual plan. She says she owes her life and happiness to Dr. Williams Pink Pills, and is willing that all the world shall know it, Her case ars traded much, attention and her per - feet recovery has created much eolnment. The facts above related are im- portant to parents, as there are many young girls just budding into woman- hood whose condition is, to say the Ieast, more critical than their parents imagine. Their complexion is pale and waxy in appearance, troubled with heart palpitation, headaches, shortness of breath on the slightest exercise, faintness and other dis- tressing symptoms which invariably lead to a 'premature grave unless prompt steps are taken to bring about a natural condition of health. In this emergency no remedy yet discovered can supply the place of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, which build anew the blood, strengthen the nerve and restore the glow of health to pale and sallow cheeks. They are as certain cure for all troubles peculiar to the female system, young or old. Pink Pills also euro such diseases as rheumatism, neuralgia partial par- alysis, IOeomotor ataxia, St, Vitus' dance, nervous headache, nervous prostration, the after effects of la grippe, influenza and severe colds, diseases depending on humors in the blood, such as scrofula, chronic ery- sipelas, ete.
