"The Lord Will Provide.” •
What a nice line that is for a lazy
good -for nothing, ne'er-do-well of a
man.
A believer in this would toast his
shins in the winter while his wife
was out doing a day's washing.
In its hest sense the inference to
be drawn from the line quoted is
that the Lord will provide .for him
who endeavors industriously to pro-
vide fer himself.

Removed Part Of The Brain.
, A Toronto boy has just passed
through one of the most marvellous
operations of modern medical science
in the General IIospital at Winnipeg.
The boy is Chas. Robb, who just a
year ago on July 1, was knocked in-
to insensiblility in a lame near Ulster
street.
Robb was a 17 -year-old bob- who
had been employed by the T. Eaton
Co. He lived at the corner of Leon-
ard avenue aad Bellevue place, with
relatives his parents being dead.
On Dominion Day of last year,
Robb went up the lane, where be
was so nearly killed, to see what
caused a crowd that had gathered
there. In the centre of that crowd
a fight was taking place, and Robb,
who was merely a spectator, was
felled to the ground with a baseball
bat.
He was taken home by his brother
unconscious, and remained in that
condition for ten days.
When he finally was thought to
have recovered, it was found that
his left hand was useless, and that
he had no control over one side of
his mouth. In this condition he
went to Winnipeg' and entered into
the Iludson's Bay Company. Short-
ly after this he was taken with
epileptic fits and went to the General
Hospital.
He consented to undergo an
operation,. ai:d nine weeks age his
head was shaved, his scalp entirely
removed froth' the top of ' his head,
and his scull }vas sawn through.
Thee the, doctors went right into
the brain fled rernoued several pieces
of dead matter, finally 'closing up
the skull and the scalp.
Robb is recovering, and, he is now
being visited by miany outside
doctors. He has regained the use of

stored to its former condition.
