There was another poor market for
cattle here to -day, notwithstanding
light offerings. Receipts were 25
cars, including 180•sheep and lambs
and 400 hogs. Hogs had another
advance, Butchers' cattle were dull
and weak; 3-e G 4e was offered for
choice, but none that offered were
taken at higher price and only the
,pick of the market brought former
quotations, Ruling prices were 3e
C 21e. Medium cattle sold at 2 ,o ®
2/0, and some poor lots sold. at 1;c
L 3/c, and some poor lots sold at '14c
`2e per Ib. Export cattle were
quiet; some bulls sold at 2&e cu 2
per lb, Stockers and feeders quiet ;
a few sold at 24c r® 3c per lb. Sheep
dull; there was • no trade done in
export sheep ; butchers' sheep sold at
2i a per pound. Lambs quiet, at 4c
«' 4ic per pound. Milch cows and
springers were lower, at $20 @ $36
each. Calves were not so plentiful,
and the market was steady, at l4
$6 each. Hogs were in active
demand and firth and higher. Choice
bacon hogs sold at an advance of 10c
® 15c per ewt., and bringing $4.20
G $4.25 per cwt. ; • light and thick
fat hogs sold at 4c per pound ; stores,
$3.80 ® $4 per ewt.
East Buffalo, N. Y., February 3.—
Cattle closed very dull, and the
early advance was lost, Sales of fat
export stags at $3.70 G $3.75 ; a few
cars unsold. Hogs closed steady; all
sold. Sheep and lambs -120 cars
on sale; sheep very dull; Canada
Iambs, run light; sold at $4.75 G $5,
mostly $4.90; general tone of the
market dull and easy at close.
Montreal, Que., February 3.—At
the eastern abattoir market about
500 head of cattle, 250 sheep and
Iambs and 25 calves were offered
to -day. There was a good demand
all around at prices ranging from 2e
el 3/c per lb, live weight, for pnor
choice beeves; small meats sold well.
Following is the general range of
quotations: --Cattle, butebers' choice,
per lb, 31e e% 3/e; culls, 20 . 2.1c.
Sheep—Common to good, per cwt,
$2,50 L $4; lambs, $3 () $4; Calves
—Good no choice, $7 ( $10 ; com-
