Always drive defensively and b e prepared for the unexpected. The Safety League of Ontario estimates that if you leave a minimum of one car length or.20 feet for every 10 MPH while following another vehicle on a , highway you should be reasonabley safe. (A Highway is any road used by the public.) For those truckers who like to follow , within the 200 foot legal following distance beware. If that truck ahead stops suddenly you - may be driving a coffin. The fine for this offense• in Huron County is a minimum of $28.00 and maximum $103..00 and a demerit point total of four. , If you are ,chagged with "Careless Driving" the fine is $108.00 minimum fine and six "demerit points.
