THE 'alittRON, .exposiT91,1; APRIL, Dublin
1 over
Flesherton
Sundays a win restored the
Dublin Pee Wees confidence as
they completely outplayed
Flesherton in the fourth game
Tuesday night and won 9.1.
Playing away from home was no
obstacle in recording thier second
win in as many strats in the
northern town.
The first period was underway
for only 30 seconds when John
Hicknell put them out fron to stay
they were never challenged from
that point onward scoring nine
. consecutive . goals before
Flesherton. —got— on- the -score
board.,
Dublin led 4-0 at the end of the
final period on two goals by Rob
Lane with singles by Lois Looby
and John Hicknell, a 7-0 at the
end of two periods, Scoring. in
the second wer Mike Kelly, GAry
Malone and John. Hicknell with
his second of the night.
In the third period Pat .Melady
and Louis Looby with his second
,goal, completed the scoring for
Dublin in the one sided contest.
The fifth game is scheduled for
1 p.m. Saturday in Flesherton.
One additional bus is being
planned to • accomodate the
interested spectators. Departure
time is 10 a.m. ,
A win would give the team the
All Ontario Pee Wee "E"
Championship. A loss would 'force
a sixth game in Seaforth on
Sunday..

After two overtime ties at
home, • the Dublin PeeWees
finally tame away with a win in a
game played in Flesherton
Sunday.,. The closely fought
contest before a good crowd in the
Flesherton Arena won on a
goal by Rob Lane with one minute
and 51 seconds remaining in the
third lieriod. Louis Looby and
Mike Kelly assisted.
Dublin opened the scoring with
two quick goals late in the first
period, by John Hicknell and Pat
Melady and led 2-1 at the end of
one. Flesherton came op strong in
the ' second to score three
unanswered goals leading 4-2 at
the end Of two: Dublin dominated
the play in the third period and
had' the game tied up by the
midway mark on two goals by
Louis Looby. Not wanting to face
a third, straight overtime game,
the boys continued to press for
the winner which came at 18:09
earning , a 5-4 victory. This sets
the stage for the- fourth and fifth
games to be played in Flesherfon
Tuesday and Saturday this week.
The best of seven series opened
in Seaforth on Tuesday last 'week,
ending in .a 5-5 tie following a
scoreless 10 minute overtime
period.' Both teams played well,
providing much 'excitement for,
the spendid crowd of home town
fans. Scoring for Dublin in the
game were Pat Melady, Mike
Kelly, Gary Malone, Rob Lane
and John Hicknell.
The second game, also in
Seaforth, before 250 fans last
Saturday, is probably anightmare
for the team management, for it
too ended in an overtime 6-6. It
must be admitted that the teams
are 'evenly Matched.
Dublin was leading 5-3 at the
end dtthe second period, only to
have Flesherton come back and
tie the score 5-5 with one minute,
19 seconds' remaining in regula-
tion time to force the extra peripd.
As luck would have it, John
Hicknell, who was the big gun for
the locals in the game with three
goals, scored with 2 1/2 minutes
remaining, •and it appeared that
the game was wrapped up. tlut
no! With 10 seconds remaining,
Flesherton tied the game again,
ending in' a 6-6 deadlock, At that
point, it appeared probable that
the series could last all summer,
but that changed however with
the 5-4 win on Sunday away, from
home. Also scoring in Saturday's
game were Pat Melady, Louis
Looby and Mike. Van Drunen.
Scott McMillan, playing. goal
'for Flesherton, has been sensa-
tional in all games with Dublin
outshooting their opponents 'by" a
large margin in 'each contest.
The sixth game, (if necessary),
will be played Easter Sunday in \
either Seaforth or 'Mitchell
(depending on the availability of
ice) and the seventh, if necessary,
in Flesherton on Tuesday, April
12. Watch for the results of
Tuesday's game and further
details of a future home game.
