They are paid regularly for t e work they do. Volunteers are needed to help train these people, as most of it has to be done on a one to one basis. It is amazing •*hat some of can do when given patient help and training. The Oluewater Centre serves Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce counties, and has pinety-six residents, plus a parental relief programme where a few people can stay for up to three weeks while those who care for them have a holiday. The worship service WAS led by- Marjorie, Margaret and Sandra Hayter, and special music was provided by Jill and Julie Armstrong. Members from Zurich, Bayfield, Kippen and- Varna were also present to hear Mrs. Wheeler tell of the homelike atmosphere that has been created for these "Citizens of the World" at the Goderich facilities, and of the steady progress the residents are making in learning basic life skills. Each year since it first-was presented in 1934 the SC1 AluMni Iviernorial Scholarship has served as a recognition of those graduates of the Seaforth Collegiate institute who gave• their lives. -in--the Great War of 1914-18. While the SCI Alumni Associa- tion has been inactive since the last war, officers of the Associa- tion have continued to ensure the $25• scholarship was awarded each year to a graduating student of S.D.H.S. Payment has, been made from the interest earned by a $500 fund which was -.1icheet in the early thirties by a.. conttputions of S.C.I. graduates and augmented by activities of 'the association at that time. To ensure that the scholarship will continue even though association officers bay no longer be available, arrangements have been made with Victoria and Grey Trust Company to accept and administrate the - % now amounting to $847.95; From the proceeds it' will pay in perpetuity the annual • scholarship. The • recipient will continue to be selected by the staff of the school. The trust agreement ' with Victoria and Grey incorporate the terms of reference established when, the scholarship was first introduced. Relevent sections provide that: .(a) (i) The scholarship is to be awarded annually to a graduating student who has shown an ability to participate, provide leadership and accept responsibility and has attained a . competent level of scholastic ability. (ii) •In the event that no student qualifies for the award in any given year, the amount of money ifivolved may (a) be added to the principal sum from which the income is derived or (b) be used as a second' scholarship given the next year. (b) The Trustee shall pay the sum of $25.00 annually from income of the fund to the student so named by the Principal of the school. At 'the discretion of the Trustee the annual amount may be increased proVided sufficient funds .are available in the income cash of the fund, (c) The Trustee shall be entitled to charge an annual fee of $20.00 for the services performed and such fee shall be paid.out of the fund.
