was held in the Olerl s office, on Tuesday
evening, to conside , .the question of ex-
tending the eighteo inch tile sewer north
along Josephine stre t from Victoria street
to the Park House. The committee, after
due considerations tided to recommend
to the Council that 1e sewer be put in at
once, on tho local as ssment system, and
that a special meet g of the Council be
held to deal with th matter.

the Union Furnitur factory was com-
pleted en Saturday, a d the masonsat once
began on the stone i cit of the dry kilns.
The kiln will be situa ed at the rear of the
engine house, and wil bo 62 x 33 feet, one
story high. The sto work on this was
finished on 'Tuesday, nd the brickwork is
being rushed along a rapidly as possible.

front of Mr. T. A. M Is' store. The horse
continued northward nd ran on the side-
walk in front of Mr. . Gracey's and ran
along the walk as fat as Messrs. Duffield &
Son's, where it tool the middle of the

continned illness of Mrs. Wood, has re-
signed the Rectorship of St. Paul's church,
and will remove to oronto, where Mrs.
Wood is at present at the home of ger

congregation of St. P l's considerably, as

learn that Mr. Wood has been appointed
assistant rector of th Church of the Re-
deemer, in Toronto one of the largest
Episcopal churches in that city. The

Smith, of the Kin street Methodist
church, London, prealed in the morning.
His discourse was 1 :tened to by a largo
congregation, and was a scholarly and im-
pressiye one. The -v. gentleman is a
ready and fluent spea er. In the evening,
instead of the usna service, a platform
meeting was held. ie pastor, the Rev.
Dr. Gifford, occupied t e chair, and gave
some extracts from the nnual missionary
report, as well as a f• practical remarks
on he subject of t lesions. 4 I o s. An ad-
dress'•awas delivered Mrs. Cnyler, of
Whitechurch, who spen some years, along
with her late husband as a missionary
among the Indians in British Columbia.
She depieted the degra ed condition of the

the cause of missions, hich is so close to
her heart, and felt t was the duty of
every Christian to het t along this glorious
branch of the church's vork. Her address ,

gave a splendid ad ress, the cause of
missions being his th me. Tho audience
was a large one, and 11 seemed to enjoy
the intellectual and o atorical treat.

Wingham, on Frida 15th Oct., 1835. The

members of the band assisted by others,
