such a thing. '
if these rumors are true, it, can't be considered any-
thing bid over-reaction to the spate of consumerism that
seems to be enveloping this country like a renegade Ralph
Nader shadpw floating across the 49th pareltel.
It is, of course, another:example of why the' agricultural
community must stick together. After all; what politician
has to take'only. six per Cent of the popUlation•into consider-
ation? Only six per cent of Canadians, are now actively en-
gaged in farming and such a minority can easily he-ignored
by the politicians.
But these politieiang and those high-ranking eivil.servants
In Ottawa Seem, to. forget that the strength of this nation
depends on a' healthy agricultural economy. More than 40
per cent of the gross national product still depends on agri-
culture even though labor seems to believe that Canada is
strictly an industrial nation. ,
Some farm organiiatieng have fought against each other
over, the years and this, .to me, i a sign that farm people
are still fiercely independent Mil n endears them; to this

Why? Because if there is any truth in these runlets, the,

Can you in such an asinine move?
My taking these boards 'and commissions froth the De-
partment.of Agriculture, the federal Cabinet would be vir-
tually destroying what has taken agriculture 100 years to
organize.
I have no idea how much credence to put in these rumors:
-"'' Nobody will confirm the reports as thi's is written. And,
at this time, I have not seen the, transfer mentioned any-

Such a radical shakeup would be disastrOus fpr faun-
