Miss Margaret McKay,
Tuckersmith, a long-time resident
here, passed her -90th birthday,
Jan. 28th. Weather conditions
have prevented celebrations. -
I felt the .effect_ of that myself
when I passed another milestone •
Jan. 31st. My family could not
Make it, from • Ingersoll as
planned: I was relieved when they
called and said• they couldn't
come as Highways were blocked
and so many travellers stalled' on
.highway 401 -arid others..
---Ma.ny- people had to abandon
their carsand seek re-Wein farm
.houses nearby. ' I was .
compensated in other ways by
many cards and other favours and
visits from friends.
I anrreniiiidea of fliis ante of a
comment by the late Dr.
G.R.Fenwick.who for many years
was Director of Music for Ontario
Dept. -Edtfeation. :often
adjodicated at , the Goderich
Festival when S.P.S. would take
bus load-of-the, pupils there to
compete.
-Some shields -which, they won
are displayed in the entrance hall
of tlia.S.P.S. __as, a reminder.
WhenDr. Fenwick reached his
80th birthday I dutifully sent him
words of congratulations. He
replied with a letter of thanks and
the following comment which I.
heVe''never forgotten. •
"Isn't it remarkable how
people always try to keep their
age a secret? But after they reach
the 80th. they have-to boast abont.
it." How true! -
