Mrs. Lantz with her daughter
Mrs. Gordon McGonigle and '
faintly .Mrs.• Olive Mtiir-With Mr.

who planned a dinner meeting
With her here.
Mr. and Mrs: V.M.Seppala,
London were guests of Mrs. E.
W. Spurt , the 'Iatter's mother.
.The usual traditional turkey
dinner was served here at the
Home for those unable to
celebrate with relatives. AS I look
out at this snowy weather some
memories of other winters come
to mind, I can only remember one
school Was closed owing to the
Storm. • • '"••
That was in 1916, 1 believe,
when no train came into town for
a week. There was a blockade
west of Dublin and not very far
from 'Seaforth.
-
The_ snowplough—was._ stuck:
There was a cut twenty-twO' feet
high. ,Many , went from town,
perhaps by snowshoe, to see it.
I also remember in 1938 there
were no trains in or out of -town
'for a week..1 remember thit date,.
as my brother mune from. England
that year for Christmas. When he
came to Canada on an extensive
holiday he h ad to spend some
time in the Toronto head office of
the Imperial Life Assurance Co. .
With no trains at that, time he
was unable 'to get to Toronto.
Cars didn't run during the winter
but "at the first snow the battery
was stored in the cellar and the
car was jacked, up and stored in
the garage' on blocks.
'No roads in town were
snowploughed,: :only the
sidewalkS, for walking. What a
occasion at S.P.S. when the change: '
