In selling Dress. Goods, honesty is
the best policy, of course, and in ad-
vertising it, modesty has some advant-
ages. For instance, we much rather
you would be surprised at the variety,
beauty and reasonable prices of what
we are selling,. than to be led: to e:
ect impossibilities from what we
advertise. We may be wrong. At
Any rate, .coigne in and be surprised.
THERE'S BUT ONE WAY
to get a correct idea of the complete-
tress of our stock and of the dollar -
Saving economies we offer you, But
toff won't give you an idea, nor will
any one else's, unless you call and
examine the goods, test the values,
then you'll know, and enjoy. Try
it. There's everything to gain. We
are selling everything these hard
times a little cheaper than you ever
bought them before, at

.-The burdock is a biennial plant which
seeds the second year and then dies. If
the seeding is prevented by cutting the
plant now or any time before the seeds are
formed, there will be an end of it. The
quickest way to manage weeds of this kind,
including others like the wild carrot,
mustard, dock, etc., is to mow them early
in the summer, and thus prevent seeding,
or to cut each two inches below the ground
with a spud.
—The following, which refers to a
brother of Mr. Geo. Good, of this place, is
taken from last issue of the Brussels Post :
The residents of Brussels were sadly sur-
prised on Wednesday by a telegram con-
veying the sad intelligence that Adam
Good, a former well-known and highly
respected resident of Brussels, had died at
the Toronto hospital on Tuesday evening.
He had gone there from Seaforth for
treatment in the removal of an abscess,
located at the base of the right lung, and
the operation was successfully performed
on Saturday, Gth inst. For a week after
he appeared to do well, when he took a
bad turn and passed away quietly, as
above stated. The remains were brought
to Brussels Wednesday evening, being ac-
companied by Mrs. Good, Mise Addie
Vanstone and James Good, of Toronto,
who were with him during his illness. The
deceased removed from Brussels last fall
to a plot of land near Seaforth, which he
had purchased. His health had not been
good for the past year and he had been
reduced almost to a skeleton. He Game to
Brussels 17 years ago and was in the em-
ploy of George Good and afterwards con-
ducted business for himself and his
straightforward manner and Christian
character were everywhere recognized. Mr.
Good was united in marriage to Miss
Mary Vanstone 11i years ago and she and
3 sone 'and 2 daughters survive. The
funeral took place on Thursday afternoon
from the residence of W. F. Vanstone and
was largely attended, Bawds. Messrs. Mc-
Rae and. Griffin conducted the services
and the ball bearers were A. M. McKay, H.
Dennis, D. Meiklejohh,J. Irwin, J. ':C,
Ross and W. H. Kerr. Mts. Good sand

their loneliness and sadness.
Manager Beak. of the Detroit
Railway Company, formerly of Lon-

NILE.
On their arrival at the Nile, on
Thursday, July 4th, Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Pring, (thb newly appointed
Methodist Minister and his wife)
found the Parsonage taken possession
of by about 40 of their parishioners,
who had gathered to bid their Pastor
and his wife a hearty welcome to
their new home. An excellent tea
had been provided, of which all ate
heartily. When the tables were
cleared, Mr. Hetherington was call-
ed to the chair and performed the
duties of that office 'with credit and
ability. In well-chosen language he
welcomed the Pastor and showed
how he was to be treated and what
would be expected- of him, expressing
the hope that his sojourn here might
be a means of pleasure and profit to
all concerned. After singing by the
choir, the chairman called upon Mr.
Bailie, Superintendent of the Sab-
bath ' School, to read the following
address, which he did :
TO THE REV. J. W. PRING AND WVIFE:
DEAR PASTOR AND . WIFE, --We,
the members of Nile S. S. and con-
gregation, have met this evening to
welcome you among .us. We trust
that through a well -directed train of
Providences you have come to labor
in our midst. We do hope and trust
that, as the messenger of God, your
labors may be abundantly' blessed.
May we pray and, work together and
if we do success will crown our
efforts ; for we have the promise that
where two or three agree as touch-
ing anything it shall be done. We
now welcome you both to our hearts
and hones, and may the blessing of
God rest upon Pastor and people.
Signed on behalf of the S. S. and
Congregation,
J. HETHERINGTON,
JOHN DtiSTOW,
Wa:. BAILIE.
Nile, July 4th, 1895.
To the above address Mr. Pring
replied on his own and wife's behalf,
outlining the coarse they intended
pursuing and expressing the hope
that the Pastoral term so auspicious-
ly begun would be continuously
pleasant and profitable to all and
tend to the glory of our Savior Icing.
A number of other addresses were
given by various brethren present
and avaried programme of music
was given and a very pleasant even-
ing was brought to a close about ten
o'clock by prayer offered by the
Pastor. The ladies left the larder
supplied with provisions as a start
for the Rev. Gentleman and his wife,
with which to satisfy the inner man.
John Williams, a colored man of.
tucan, was arrested on a charge of'
setting fire to Stanley & Dight's
