Installation services were held in the ,,k.beve church, on Tuesday, the 10th inst., an connection^with the settlement of the Rev: Henry W. Mote, D. D., as minister of the church. In the afternoon, a Council was held, when ministers, delegates, and friends from several Congregational churches in the District were present. The Rev'. B. B.• Williams, of Guelph, was appointed ..*oderator, and the Rev. C. E. Zoltou, z7f 1lincardine, Scribe. After the ialatver of the call of the Church had been. gone into, the credentials of the minister to be installed, points of doctrine and other important things considered,: the Council retired and after co$sideration submitted to the meeting the following resolution: That we, the members of the Council, un- animously agree that the Rev. Henry W. Mote, D. D., be installed as the Minister of the ehuroh, which resolution, when put to the meeting, was unanimously carried. After the Benediction was pronounced, the Meeting adjourned until the evening, when, at 8 o'clock,: ptiblio meeting was held, presided over by the Moderator. Mr: Stewart reported that the declaration of union between Knox and Melville churches was read from the pulpits of the aforesaid churches. Permission was given to Mr. McLennan to moderato in a call to a minister at St. Helens and East Ash- field. The Presbytery agreed that w�130 be asked from the Augmentation Committee in Lehalf of Walton congregation. Com- missioners to the General Assembly repert- ed and wera thanked for they diligence. Standing Committees for the year were appointed, as follows: Finance—Messrs. McLennan, A. McKay, J. McNabb, and their Presbytery elders, Home Missions—Messrs. Murray,G. Mc- Kay, McFarlane, and their Presbytery olden. Sabbath Schools—Messrs. Perrie, Hart- ley, Forrest, and their Presbytery alders. Examination of Students -- Messrs. Malcolm, A. McNab,, and their Presbytery elders. Statistics—Messrs. Fairbairn, Rose, and their Presbytery elders. Young People's Society—Messrs. Ander- son, Ballantyne, Hall and their Presbytery elders. Christian Life and Work—Messrs. Ross, McRae, Sutherland, and their Presbytery elders. The Presbytery appointed Wednesday, 24th inst., as a day of huniiliation, fasting and prayer, to be observed in all our con- gregations. Public worship to begin at 11 a. m. in all our churches, except in the case where two congregations are under one pastoral charge ; in that case, worship will be observed in the second charge at an hour suitable in the afternoon. On motion duly made and seconded, the Presbytery expressed gratitude to see the Rev. Mr. Perrie among them after his return from Scotland. Mr. Perrie acknow- ledged in graceful terms the kind: expres- sions of welcome home by the brethren. The next meeting of Presbytery will be held at Wingham, on Tuesday, September 17th, at 11.30 a. m. Troy's brick block is nearing completion. It will contain two stores, 20 by 40 feet. It is expected that Messrs. T. Kew, harnessmaker, and G. A. Found, tinsmith, will occupy them when finished. Mrs. Ann Elgin, a respected resi- dent of this place, sister of Mr. David Ritchie, died suddenly at Montreal, where she was visiting, on Saturday morning.
