The town. now owns the street lights. Previously, the PUC had donated the labour. There is no LIP money available to do repairs on Seaforth's town hall, but a new program is planned for the spring for which Seaforth might be eligible, clerk Jim Crocker told councillors. The AB Conservation Authority told council that a study of a possible greenbelt along Silver,Creek, south of the railway tracks will be done by their summer staff in 1977. A request from the St. John's Ambulance Brigade for a grant was referred to the recreation committee. Councillors were invited to attend the Elgin Thompson Appreication Night Friday, in honour of the reeve of Tucker- smith who is retiring after 15 years. The town, will install a pipe to solve. the problem of a private drain connection being plugged by the roots of a tree on Franklin St.,, following a complaint by Dr, Cyril Lacko, Reeve John Flannery reported for the public works committee. Council will talk to their. engineer and the Ministry of the Environment about a bill from Vasto Construction for about $1900 for the rental of four foot hose to pump out a manhole this' , summer. Seven applicants will be interviewed this week for the: job of arena manager, council heard. 40,000 gallons of water were used at the arena this November, compared to 158,000 gallons in November, 1975,, councillor Bill Bennett reported. R.R.4, Seaforth and Kenneth Alexander MacDonald of Seaforth pleaded guilty to a charge of break, enter and theft at Base Factory dutlet at Vanastra on August 24, 1975. Mr. Livingston and Mr. Sallows are to appear in Seaforth Court on January 19 for sentencing. Mr. MacDonald was remanded in custody until appearance- at the Goderich provincial court on December 20 for sentencing. In the same caase Gerrit Logtenbery of Vanastra, charged with possession of stolen goods, pleaded guilty and is to appear in Seaforth court January 19 for sentencing. Barry R. Kreller ,of Fordwich, pleaded bulky to a careless driving charge and fined $253 or 25 days in jail as the result of an accident in front of the Seaforth Arena November 6 when Brenda L. Brown of R.R.3, Monkton, a pedesttran, was struck by the car, suffering severe leg injuries. A dangerous driving charge was withdrawn. Marian Laws of Seaforth Council adogted a suggestion of the finance and general government committee that the planning beard be asked to de a review and updating of the official plan and zoning bylaws. The County planning department will help, but they have a long waiting list. Council declared Monday, Hullet Township, was fined $28, or three days in jail. William Devereaux, 22, of R.R.4, Seaforth, charged with having open liquor in car, was fined $54 or 5 days in jail. , Harold E. Wilson of Seaforth pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to stop for a stop sign and was fined $28 or three days in jail. A charge of careless driving was withdrawn. County council is not getting involved., financially in the Vanastra swimming pool, Reeve Flannery said in answer to a question from councillor Charlie Campbell. The pool's deficit has been discussed at county council. The PUC will contract to supply water to the Silvercreek Subdivi- sion for which the owners will pay. Mayor Cardno reported. Work is stalled on cianneettrox pipes to the PUC's new well, she reported, because digging ran into quick sand. Part of the work is done. Council and the PUC should meet early in the new year to continue the updating of street- lights around town, council decided. Most of the money budgeted last year for the prograrilhas been spent and "the lighting around town is starting to look good, except for a few sections," councillor Bill Bennett commented.
