Sunday morning, November 21, the Centennial Quilt made and planned by Mrs. Pearl Eyre, Mrs. Pearl McBeath, Mrs. Doris Wilson was presented as a gift Board meeting and informed the meeting that the workshop will be "guilts" and that our district Will henceforth be called Huron South District. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Grant MacLean. Poems were given by Mrs. Al Hoggarth, Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse and Mrs. G. Drummond, A skit was performed by Mrs.4A1 Hoggarth and Mrs. G. Drummond, "Fantastic." The roll call was answered by a "Landscaping Idea." Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse was in charge of the program and conducted a Flower Contest. Mrs. Alex McGregor gave ' courtesy remarks. Lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. E. Whitehouse, Mrs. Stewart , Pepper and the lunch committee, Mrs. Dave Triebner and Mrs. Campbell Eyre. The motto was "Cultivation does as much for the Soul as it does for the soil" -' a thought provoking subject. Bud McLeod, Manitowaning, visited in the village, Wednesday. Miss Jean Ivison is a patient in Clinton Public. Hospital. Perby Wright has put a nice addition on his house. A prominent resident Samuel G. Rennie passed away in Westminster Hospital, London on Sunday, November 21st, 1976 in his 71st year. A life-long resident of Hensel!, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Erastus Rennie, a prominent businessman and widely known for his musical talent. Surviving is .his wife, the former Eileen Rumball; two sons: Jerry, Brantford; Howard, Sarnia; three daughters: MrS. Don (Mary Ann) Bender, R.R.#1, Dashwood; Mrs. Art (Dianne) Werner, Kitchener; and Suzanne, Toronto. Ten, grandchildren also survive. Two sisters Mrs. Irma Harris and Mrs. Ruth Paisley predeceased him. from the congregation by Robert Broadfoot, Mrs. Joan Allan and Mrs. Joyce Wilson, to Mrs. E.S. Stephens and Rev. Stephens. Mrs. Stephens thanked all who had taken part in making it, and designing the United Church crest in the centre. The flowers in the church were in memory of the late Mrs. John Cornish and the late Mrs. Muriel Anger, Belmont, beloved mother of Mrs. Wallace Jackson of Brucefield, The community extends their deep sympathy to Mrs. Jackson and family. I.O.O.F. Play Cards Brucefield I.O.O.F. held their first card party for the season on Friday evening November 19.,The following were the winners: Ladies high, Mrs. Percy Campbell; Ladies low, Mrs. Pearl Eyre; Ladies lone hands, Marjorie Broadfoot; Men's high, Bill Rogerson; Men's low, T. Scribbons; Men's Lone hands, Lloyd McKenzie. Lucky draw for half bushel of apples was won by Marjorie Broadfoot. Personals Wesley Ham, Gravenhurst. visited last week. with his mother Mrs. •A. Ham and aunt Miss M. Elwan : Mrs. Jean Henderson and Mrs.. Marjorie Broadfoot visited Mr. and Mrs. Norman Walker, Bayfield and were pleased to find them fairly well. Group 1 U.C.W. presented Mrs. Walker with a cup and saucer. Rev. Beck speaks on answers The United Church Service was conthicted by Rev, Don Beck on Sunday with Mrs. John,Tuitheim at the organ. The sermon was called "Three Possibilities" and told how we can answer God's commands by (1) saying No, (2) saying Yes and not doing it and (3) saying. Yes and doing it. The choir sang, ''I want Jesus to walk with me" and the flowers were in loving memory of Mrs. Allota Foster. children on December 11 at the Hensall Public School at 2 p.m. On December 13, the Kinsmen will be taking the senior citizens to CKNX for the taping of the Circle 8 Ranch Show and the Kinettes will serve lunch at the Three Links Centre. As a highlight for their December meeting, the Kinettes will visit the Country Spire Gift Shop on December 8. Hensall 2 4-H Club The sixth meeting of the Hensall 2 4-H Club, the Bran Muppets was held on Tuesday evening, November 16 at the home of Mrs. Cecil Pepper. They discussed the pros and cons of convenience foods and read labels and information on boxes of cereals. A gingerbread cake was prepared with a choice of either brown sugar or lemon sauce. This was enjoyed by all. Hensall 3 • , The sixth meeting of the Hensall 3 4-H Club, the Rolled Oats, was held at 7:30 p.m. on November 16 at the home of Janice Bisback. Seven girls answered the roll call which was "My two free , choice cereal recipes from the members pamphlet." The demonstration was hot water gingerbread and lemon sauce which was enjoyed by all the girls present. Livestock report Demand was active at the Hensall Livestock Sales this week and the prices were steady. The supply consisted mainly of heifers and steers. Fat cattle; heifers, $34.50 - $40.25, steers, $40.50 $43.00. Pigs; weinlings, $23.00 - $39.00, chunks, $41.00 - $49.50. Personals Mrs. Laird Mickle returned Sunday ,after a pleasant two week holiday spent with , her son Charles in Hamilton who teaches at the Sir John A. MacDonald Secondary School in the city. Mr. 'and Mrs. John Skea, Senior spent the weekend with their son and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Skea Junior, Colin and Karen in Brampton. the Rev. G,A. Rep. for Huron was the guest speaker and she was introduced by Mrs. Robert Kinsman. By using slides, she illustrated the different families of plants and how they reproduce. Plants are essential to all '`f animal life, she said. Plants are able to'produce their own food by the process of photosynthesis which is something neither man or animal is able to do. She was thanked by Mrs. Grant MacLean. Mrs. Wm. McDowell, a recent bride, was presented with a gift from the members after Mrs. Ross Broadfoot had played "I lo'e you truly." The Area Convention report was given by Mrs. Al Hoggarth and Mrs. Grace Drummond. The current events were given by Mrs. Ross Broadfoot. Mrs. Robert Kinsman reported the Fall Correspondent Mrs, Hugh Berry Bru,cefield United Church will hold their last 100th Anniversary Service, when a former Brucefield boy, Dr. John McIntosh, Toronto will be the guest speaker at 10 in the morning, November 28. W. D. Jarvis. Inerment in, Hensall Union Cemetery. The pallbearers were Ed. Gascho, Claude Blowes, Lorne Chapman, , John Anderson, Don Bender and Art Werner, Dublin defeats Hensall in hockey Hensall Banthams lost to, Dublin Banthams in play last Thursday. The lone goal on Hensall's side was scored by Bradley Stewart. Hensall eutshot Dublin in shots on goal but the final score was in Dublin's favour at 3-1, A fair crowd was in attendance, St. Paul's A.C.W. The regular meeting. of St. Paul's A.C.W. was held on Thursday afternoon at the home of Helen Roberts. The president, Mrs. Forrest, opened the meeting with the Members Prayer and following that the Invocation was read from "The Living Message." The scripture from John was, given by Helen Roberts and Annie Reid, Rev. Anderson gave the meditation. Everybody then took part in the Litany - this was followed by prayer. The roll call was answered with a Bible verse containing the word "snow." Helen Roberts read the minutes of the last meeting and Mrs. Windover gave the study book followed by a reading by Mrs. Forrest. The 1977 Church calendars were distributed and The Living Message was renewed. It was decided to entertain at the Queensway Nursing Home for the month of December. Rev. Anderson closed the meeting with a prayer. Hensall and District Kinettes The November meeting of the Hensall and District Kinettes was held at the home of Kinette Sharon Doxtator' last Tuesday, - November 16 with president Marian Heil presiding.
