15 in the basement of Duff's
United Church to honour Sandra
. Watson whose marriage takes
place early next month. The
basement was decorateF1 by Mrs.
Alice Searle\ and Mrs. Margery
Huether in red and white.
Mrs. Jean Bewley was m.c. for
the short program which included
readings, "The Bridal Blues"
and "How to Preserve a
husband" given by Mrs. Leona
McDonald. Cathy McGavin sang
two solos accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. Marie McGavin at
the piano,„ThiS was followed by a
step dancing number by Chrisie
Achilles.
- The bride-elect , her mother,
Mrs. Berva Watson and her
grandmother, Mrs. Earl Watson
had been presented with corsages
when they arrived and were
called to the front when Mrs.
- Karen Carter composed and read

It wasn't long till Cupid's arrow
did strike,

On March 5, 1951 a baby came
And. Sandra Gail was chosen to
be her name
Gerald and Berva were a very
proud pair,
For their baby Sandra was to
them so fair.
A baby Sandra didn't stay too
long
For she seemed to grow 'so
straight and strong,
As a wee little girl she did play
But a little girl was not to stay.
To Walton Public School she was
sent
Where many a day at learning
she spent,
Then to Seaforth District High
School she did advance
For more learning she wanted a

put on Sterifoam and made into
the form of a three layer cake and
names of those attending were
written on a cloth painted with
Cameo paints by Phyllis Mitchell
and presented to Sandra.
Sandra thanked everyone for

was served by neighbors and
friends.

Seaforth, a student at the University of Waterloo in
recreation, is spending a work term at the Chateau
Annex Nursing Home in Kirkland Lake. Karen's
photo, with resident Gary Webber, at a Hallowe'en
party at the home, appeared in the Kirkland Lake
newspaper.

evening for their' NoVember
Meeting to Mrs. Van, Vliet's
apartment at the Senior Citizens
home. She was a former member
of the unit.
Mrs. Martin Baan opened the
devotions with the, thought for the
day. Hymn, "Where cross the
crowded ways of life" was sung.
Mrs.Ross Bennett read the
scripture from Matthew 25: 31-46'
followed by a reading and prayer.
Mrs. Baan read parts from the
book, "Jusice not Charity". Mrs.
Bennett read a poem., "In
Flander's Field", Hymn, "Rise
up, 0 men of God!" was sung.
Offering was dedicated by .Mrs.
Bennett.
Mrs. Harold McCallum read
the minutes and business matters
were discussed. The meeting was
closed with prayer followed by
lunch and a social half hour.

• On Sunday morning Mr. and
Mrs. Torrence Dundas welcomed
worshippers into Duff's United
Church and handed out the order
of worship sheets. offering was
received by Allan Searle, Stewart
McCallum and Alvin McDonald,
Mr. Jack McEwing, clerk of
session, asked Mr. and Mrs.
Laverne Godkin to present tneir
daughter Sharon Joan to Rev.
Baker for Baptism.
Mrs. Godkin was presented
with a rosebud as were the
mothers of the children baptized
last Sunday. Many relataives of
the family attended the service.
