There will be some changes in
Hullett Township council next
year as two members have
annbunced' that'''they will not be
running again.
Councillor 'Milton Dale, who
has beep on council for six years.
has decided not to run again.
"Hav''ing served the people for
'six year's I have decided not to
stand for re-election. I have
enjoyed working with the rest' of
Hullett Township Council and
representing the ratepayers of
Hullett," he said.
Councillor Toni Duizer .. who
Two , in Hullett not running
('Continued from 'Page I) ,
he had made a mistake.
A shocked and dismayed
council Monday night took no
action on the letter.
In a telephone conversation
Wednesday morning, 'Mayor
Cardno -said she hopes to meet
with the fund raising committee
of the arena, and hopefully a
delegate would go to Toronto the
first of .the week. She' thinks
Seaforth has a valid request.
• Clive Buist Seaforth's
Recreation Director, says that
Seaforth has also missad out on a
community centres grant. In
1973-74 this grant amounted to
one quarter up to $20,000 but in
1975 this grant was upped to one
quarter up to SL5Q,000. Seaforth
received only a 510.000 grant on
the arena roof repairs.
Mr. Buist in speaking of the
present situation said all that can
be done locally is "to raise as
much as we can and be ready for
them".
Winta
has served on Council for four
years, will also not be running
again.
Reeve John Jewitt!„who has -
been, reeve of Hullett for two
yedrs and a councillor for seven,
has decided to run for Reeve
again.
Deputy Reeve Joe Hunking has
also decided to run again. Mr.
Hunking has been Deputy Reeve
for two years and a councillor for
six and one-half years.
Councillor Greg Brandon will
be running again. He has served
for two years on council.
Seaforth has endorsed a letter
from Wallaceburg to provincial
treasurer Darcy McKeough which
says in part: the municipality
heeded the provinces concerns
respecting safety standards in
public structures and particularly
arenas and in spite of no
government funding available at
the time, proceeded to repair The
arena roof to the standards as set
down by the province. No doubt
Wallaceburg has benefited by the
,foresight shown at that time; but
it would appear that We are being
penalized for such foresight. In
1975 the emits to public facilites
such as these were raised to
575.000 per facility. Because of
the recent pressure on
municipalities to bring their
arenas in line with provincial
standards, they are being
extended further funding through
Wintario. These funds would
haVe been very helpful to our
situation:
