The work of two famous Canadian war aces Col. W.A.Bishop V.C. and Col. W. G. Barker, V.C., the pictures were made available to the Expositor by Ed. Daly. In discussing the- picutures Mr. Daly recalled that the book ,"Canada'S Flying Heritage" by Frank H. Ellis points out tharafter the War, litany veteran flyers, began to figure ways and means of making a hiring out of flying. Among these were Bishop and Barker, who between them had destroyed 122 enemy aircraft in World War I. The Bishop-Barker Flying Co. was formed with the object of operating a passenger service between Toronto and the Muskoka resort area, but the public was not ready for so radical an innovation and the Company c .ollapsed. In the meantime other activities such as the airial photos of Seaforth. were undertaken. In the upper, picture taken looking north, along Main Street can be seen (lower left) the activity at the CNR station including cattle pens freight sheds and station building. South of the tracks are mill buildings moats of which have disappeared-with the development., of Railway Street. Directly above the CNR station in the'former skating rink which burned several years ago and was replaced with the present Ball Mac auley plant. The • Legion building is missing on Main Street but the barn in which Mac McKellar kept the horse he used for Express deliveries . o,ccupied the site. There were no houses on Huron Street and SeafOrth people took g'hort cuts as they angleil krOss the'blotk. It was nearly ten years after this picture was taken that' the bowling green on Main Street was built. In the upper left can be seen the factory buildings torn down in recent years to make way for the Senior Citizens apartments. In the lower picture taken looking west along No. 8 Highway can be seen the former barn long since gone where the Leonhart house now is located. In- the right of this is the former Walsh house which was moved to H arpurhey a number of years ago to make room for the Shell station on Goderich Street East.' The skating rink appears at the upper left and west of the Queens " Hotel, is the, former three storey Wilson egg storage building which disappeared in 1928 when Supertest built the first gas station in Seaforth. Just below St. James' Church in the middle of the picture is the original St. James' School. Note the walkways between the Church and the Convent. Most members of council have indicated that they are running agam, and none had heard of any other McKillop residents planning to Contest an election. McKillop reeve, Allan Campbell, who has been on council for 16 years said he will stand again. "Nobody else seems to want to. If somebody wanted the job, I'd be willing 'to quit." Deputy reeve, Ralph McNichol, who has also been on council since 1960, says he will likely run again, although he couldn't be definite yet. Councillor Harvey Craig said he is planning to run. 'He's been on council for about seven years. Bill Leeming, another McKillop- councillor, says he will run for office again. He's been on council, for about 10 years and says he hasn't heard any word on whether or not there will be an election. The entire McKillop council was acclaimed to office two years ago. , Art Anderson, a McKillop councillor for eight years, says he's still undecided about running again. There has been quite a bit of pressure on him to run for reeve but "I don't .have time for that," Mr Anderson said. He commented that although he's enjoyed his years on council, it's difficult to get to night meetings when he has cows to milk first. There'll be at least one change on Grey Township council, this year. Barbara Dunbar, who's been a councillor for two terms, has announced that she's not running again. "It's time somebody else had a stab at it. I've been on for four years, and that is enough." Grey reeve, Roy Williamson is definitely running again. Mr. Williamson is finishing his first term as reeve but he has been a member of council for six years, incinding two years as deputy reeve and two as a cohncillor. Mr. Williamson said he isn't sure yet whether or not Grey will have a ratepayer's meeting.
