Community Hospital. We wish
him a speedy recovery.

The sympathy of the commun-

sister-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. John

Gordon Kistner, R.R. 1, • Born-
holm, one son Walter and one
daughter in Stettler, Alberta„ also
several nieces and nephews, in
the passing of their dad Dan
Kistner, who passed away in
Stettler Hospital. He was
-formerly from. Brodhagen area.
He was predeceased by his
brother Fred of Brodhagen, a son
and his wife Mrs. Freda Kistner.
We are glad to hear Wm.
Bennewies has returned home
from Seaforth Community
Hospital • where he is
convalescing.

Duke St. E., Kitchener, who
celebrated their 60th Anniver-
Sary. The latter, nee Freida Rose,
is well known in the community
having spent her early years on
the Henry Rose farm on Con. 9,
now owned by Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Gelhke and family, '
Their wedding ceremony took
place in St. Peter's. Lutheran.
Church, Brodhagen in 1916. Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Rose Sr. were
the attendants.
On Sunday, Mrs. Edwin Mogk,
Mrs. Henry Rose, and Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Rose Sr., Mitchell
accompanied Mrs. HerMan Hinz
to visit the honoured couple at
their home. •

Mrs. Allan Bain, R .R.3, Strat-
ford, was guest speaker at the
Thankoffering meeting of the
Marian Ritchie evening auxiliary
and their guests, members of the
Women's Missionary Society.
In her remarks, Mrs. Bain
pointed out the advantages of
taking part in meeting and
activities at the P resbytery level.
She also listed several ways in
which regular monthly meetings
can be made more interesting and
noted that people -can usually find
time to do what they want to do.
Her talk concluded with a reading
on time - Twenty-four Hours.
Mrs. Lloyd Millet presided for
the meeting with Mrs. Duncan
Scott at the piano for the hymns.
The worship service opened with

Staffa W.I. was held at the home
of the .president, Mrs. Charles
Douglas on Wednesday morning
where plans were made to cater to
a dinner banquet in the Mitchell
and District Community -Centre
on November .2.

attended the county rally at the
Elma ' Community Centre at
Atwood on. Thursday.
A large crowd attended the
reception for Mr. and Mrs. Larry
Grey (nee Kemp) in the Hibbert
Township Hall on Friday everting.

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Sims and
family, London were weekend
guests of Mr. and Mrs. John
Drake and Murray.

of St. Peter's Lutheran Church
Sunday morning to celebrate, Mr.
and Mrs. Wtn. Hints- 40th
Wedding Anniversary. They *ere
placed there by their family.
Guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Edwin Rock and Norman over the
weekend were the former's son
Pastor Robert Rock, Dartnionth,
N.S., their granddaughter, Miss
Rebecca Rock. C.W.O., London,
George Warwin and Tom
Vanevery, Waterloo. Pastor Rock
also attended the executive board
of Synod meeting in; Waterloo.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Mrs. Orval Beuer-
man, two sons, five daughters,
two brothers, three sisters and 11
grandchildren in the death of
Orval Beuerman, who passed
away in University Hospital,
London on Friday. He was
hymn, "All People That on Earth
do Dwell" and prayer. Mrs.
Philip James read the scripture,
Matt. 6:25-33. The roll call was
answered with a Thanksgiving
verse.
In the absence of the secretary,
the minutes were read by Mrs.
Robert Laing. Mrs. John
Templeman was in charge of the
business. Twelve cards and one
visit were, recorded by the
Friendship and Service secretary,
Mrs, U. Miller.
Hymn, "I Joyed, when to the
House of God" was sung.
Mrs. Clifton Miller sang "Thank
You Jesus, " and the topic on, the
history of Thanksgiving was taken
by Mrs.R. Laing. Mrs. Bain
conducted an alphabetical Bible
quiz. The meeting closed with a
hymn and the Lord's. Prayer in
unison.

Sandra Hulley was guest
speaker at the October 19 meet-
ing of Cavan U.C.W. when she
told of her Brazilian family. She
said' in Bel Horizonte which
means "the beautiful horizon",
young people' are dependent on
their parents until through
university where here the young
people work and many pay their
own way through school.
The • most beautiful and
memorable sight she will always
remember was the statue of Jesus
Christ watching over all of Rio
Sonerio.
Jane Case opened the meeting
with a poem entitled "Give
Thanks onto the Lord" and
"Thanks." Hymn "Give Thanks
unto the Lord." Roll call was
answered by "A favourite hymn
or a favourite verse of the Bible."
' The U.C.W. are invited to a
bazaar held by Burns U.C.W. at 2
o'clock on Oct. 27 at Londesboro
Community Hall.

Executive is being held in Walton
on November 4.

their regular meeting at St.
Patrick's School last Tuesday
evening with 14 members in
attendance. Lion President Jim
Paratchek reported that the vote
on the liquor plebescite was being

There is still work to be done on
pavilion. If you can spare a
St. Columban C.W.L. met in
the parish hall recently with the
president,' Mrs. Mildred Cronin
presiding. The ladies of the
parish are asked to a bazaar to be
held in Kinkora on Oct. 27. Fran
Malone and Martha Klassens are
to visit the sick for October and
November.

held in Listowel in September and
thanked those who attended.
