St. Columban finished their
soccer season by t ying Leo's
Distributing of. London 1-1 this
past ' Sunday. The tie kept
St. Columban undefeated at home
for the entire 1976 schedule: .
The game was rather spotty
. and only at times approached the
level of play that these two teams
showed in the 3rd. Division Cup
Final. Field and weather ,
conditions made . playing and.
Watching quite miserable. Snow
fell throughout most of the game
and a wet fie made • f,
treacherous.
Leo's took a 1 me lead
as one of their players tole the
ball from a St. Columba -ft, • k.
and scored on a low shot that
'beyond goalie Frank ,Verbe
reach.
In the 2nd half St. Colum
evened the score on a free kick
from 25 yards out. Brad Finlayson
and Marvin Kale lined up as
though to take a shot on goal,
then passed the ball through
London's defence to Ppul Coyne.
Coyne made no mistake as he
took the ball right in and shot into
the corner of the net.
St. Columban had one excellent
chance to win the game when
Casey Van Bakel shot from the
right wing. The ball h it the far
post ,and rolled back along the
goal line and out the far side.
A final summary' and league
standings will be provided next
week.
