The VArna United Mitch
Women 'held their - regular
meeting last Thursday evening.
Eleanor McAsh, Ruth Johnston
and Elaine Stephenson presented
a Thanksgiving program, using
the stories of the pilgrims, Job,
Paul and the lepers to point out
that people who suffer extreme
adversity can still find many
things for which to thank God.
Margaret Hayter introduced
Marie McGavin of Walton, who
told with wit and great
enthusiasm of her experiences at
Alma College last August. She
,advised the women to take the
oppOrtunity to attend if they can,
and not to be afraid that four days
of that environment will be too
much. There is time set aside for
relaxation and fun, and she
considered it a wonderful
experience.
Marjorie Stirling presided for
-the business. Invitations were
received to thankoffering
meetings at Bayfield on Wed.,
Oct. 13, with Mrs. Vandyk of
Shakespeare as guest speaker;
and to Wesley-Willis Church in
Clinton on Sunday, Oct. 17, where
Rev. Morris Francis of Fullarton
will speak. 'The treasurer,
Margaret Hayter, reported a good
profit frOm the booth at . Ida
McCli nchey's auction sale.
Mrs. McAsh closed , the
meeting with prayer and lunch
was served by the committee.
