There'll be a liquor plebiscite in
Hibbert Township at the Dec. 6
municipal ,election to see if
township people favour allowing
occasional liquor permits.
The Dublin Lions Club has
obtained the signatures of 25 per
cent of the township's- eligible
voters and Hibbert' clerk Charles
Friend says he sent ,the request
for a vote into the Liquor Control
Board last week. "They need a -
full two months befere the
deadlilne for a vote so that ought
to give them plenty of time," Mr.
Friend said.
Brodhagen
Mr. Friend says he imagines
that liquor authorities will
authorize the plebiscite on Dec.
6., "They might say they don't
want it on the, same day as local
elections, but we think it would be
good because more people will be
out to vote."
If the plebiscite is approved,
...other halls in the township would
also be eligible to obtain special
occasion permits. Because
Hibbert is "dry" voters must give
approval before the Lions, or any
'other group can get a special
occasion permit to sell liquor.
The Lions originally only
wanted a vote for the police
village of Dublin so that they
could get special occasion-permits
in their new pavilion there. But
the village isn't recognized as
separate under the Liquor Control
Act so the vote has to be township
wide.
The vote to go "wet" must get
the approval of 60 per cent of the
township's voters.' 'The Lions
aren't interested in a liquor store
or a lounge; the vote is only to
allow special occasion. permits,"
Mr.Friend said.

was encetiraged that it was
springing up within the-mainline
churches:" Tensions arpse he said,
when Charismatics feet that
everyone should have their
experiences or "when ' people
without such experiences resent
those, who h ave.,, One positive
result Was that it was forcing the•

worship. The speakers prompted
a healthy discussion and a motion
for further study at the next
meeting of presbytery.
