OH WHAT A MESS. — One of the tortures of SDHS
initiation ceremonies for grade 9 students was a
"search through a whipped _cream filled pie plate for a
jelly bean. After many grade niner's faces looked like
this girl's, Brent Schenck of the student's council
eemembered that hp forgot to put the jelly bean in
the pies. (Staff Photo)

,,SQ4kettlifIg is definitelt wrong
in S.D.R.S, today. tie grade nine
students all are wearing a sign on
their backs that read; "/ worship
grade 12 & 13." Obviously
initiation day at Seiforth District
FlIgh ScheOl.
A group of first .year_ students
were rounded up • and marched
down to the Huron Expositor
office where they had their
picture taken. This was one of the
many tasks they were asked to do.
Disobedience of an corer meant
punishment in Kanoci Court
that afternoon.
The boys of grade nine were all
prettied up in a dress and lipstick,.
a few. even wearing mascara,
whereas the girls wore diapers
with a workboot and a house
slipper and carried their books in
a pail. With an outfit such as
these, it was rather hard for any
of them to escape initiation.
The grade nine students
received quite a feW tasks to do
that day. One student was
commanded to crawl up the stairs
backwards. Another was given a
length of toilet paper and
instructed to measure the front
hall with it. And there was the
usual task of carrying a' senior
student's books to class.

Ryan; press reporter, Sesanne
Eggert.
' There are ten. members taking
this club. The leaders outlined
what the girls would be doing,
and • some of the members
demonstrated the measuring of
solids.
The leaders made frypan
cookies. The meeting ,was
concluded with lunch.
The McKillop No 1 4-H
group had their 1st 4-H meeting •
on September 13th at the home of ''
Befty Glanville. The meeting
began with the .electing
officers. The officers 'are:
President-Sandra Regele, Vice-
•President-Sharon Eedy,
SeCretary-Debble Rawn, Riess' .
Reproter-Marion Hunt.
Roll call came next which was
"naming a cereal I have never
eaten but would like to try".
A fter reading over a couple of
pages in member's pamphlet,
Sherri McCall and Betty Glanville
made the frypan cookies at this
meeting so members would have
an idea of the procedure. The
grand finale came when the -girls
sampled the product.
