. . And so the summer ends. It is now time to
give up our cherished freedom and subject
ourselves to,six or more hours per day of school.
There is no avoiding it, so, therefore, all I can say
Is "welcome back".
Many things have changed as compared to last
year. These changes appear to be for the good.
Some of Jeffery's campaign promises are now a
reality, The cafeteria is under student council
control and they are doing an excellent job. Meal
quality has risen, (and will continue to rise) and
prices have dropped. Any profits made now stay in
the school to be used in Student Council activities.
The take-over shows a fanatastic amount of
determination. Controlling the cafeteria is a great
responsibility and it is working out well.
For the first time in Seaforth High we are using'
the seventy minute class system. Throughout the
year, my staff and I plan te -take opinion polls.
Success hinges partially if not entirely on the
student body and its opinions. After a week or so,
there have been few complaints. Only time will
tell.
N-ow a message to the new breed; the grade
niners. Welcome to SDHS. It's by far the best
school—in Ontario. You'll find the majority of the
personnel is o.k. You'll .be spending a feW years
here; so, get Invelved. It makes life easier. It
mixes y ou in with the "veterans" and makes you
feel at home. Initiation is over and you are no
longer a novelty. Y ou are just ordinary students,,
so do as we all do "Work hard , but enjoy!"
I guess that's all for my first editorial. I've
covered a few general topics...I'll definitely do
follow-ups on -both the seventy-minute class and
cafeteria topics later.
I hope everyone has a great year.
