At first, they were sold one at a time, but, because of the amount of time it 'took, they were soon sold in "package deals." Everyone was in the spirit and there was no problem getting a bid. Packages went for as much as twelve dollars and' singles' as much as seven dollars. The, slaves had to carry books and do various other little deeds for their masters. The student council made over $100 on the auction by sellihg roughly 80 grade niners.
