understandably, confused visitors
to the Legislature. To date, at the
time of a Vote. the Speaker directs.
the Clerk to "call in the
Members", and division bells
ring. Those Members in the
Chamber promptly leave, secure
in the knowledge that the bells
will ring for along period, often in
excess of half-an-hour - some-
times for several hours. The
Report recommends that a fixed
period be established, possibly
twenty minutes, between the
- call of a vote and the vote itself.
This would provide sufficient time
for Members to assemble, and
the fixed time-limitation would
nelp to speed up proceedings. in
the Chamber.

Mabel Turnbull
On Thuisday Mrs, Kau Lo4g7
, staff R.N. our Director of Nurses
with her staff organized an
'Indoor Picnic' to which friends
and relatives were invited.
About thirty in all assembled in
the 'Common room in OP 404
''e% porch. Mrs. Longstaff distributed
Music Books for a sing-song.
These books are entitled 'Sing
Out'. In these the ptinted words
of familiar songs are produced in
large letters„
These books were-prepared for
Senior Citizens, a service of the
Ministry of Community and Social
Services. The group joined lustily
in the sing-song which followed
and niaiiy special requests were
asked for by the group.
Following the sing-song, the
McQuaid sisters took over. These
young ladies delighted us 'with
their • music and tap-dancing.
They were accompanied by their
mother Mrs. Wilfred McQuaid at,
the piano. Anne Marie. played a
solo violin number.
Madonna and Carole Anne
danced a duo number while some
of the • other girls accented the
rythm with tambourine and other
elements often used in tiny tots
rythm band work. Anne Marie did
a solo tap-dance number.
The girls were most attractive
in costumes blouses of sheer
mauve checked material and wore
white, pant tunics with frills over
the. shoulder. The pants were slit
with insets of the mauve material
which greatly enhanced the danc-
ing.
Their whole program was of a
high order and greatly enjoyed by
all. The girls also looked as
though they were enjoying them-
selves.
Their spirit and smiling faces
added the touch which pleases. A
double thanks to -the McQuaids
for joining our program.
This was a very special day for
Miry Longstaff as- it was her
birthday. All ,sang Happy Birth-
day to her. She did not divulge
the number of years but they
must be in the 'tender' category.
The program concluded when
The staff 'served a well-planned
seasonable lunch . A special
thanks also to the whole staff for
their effort in making this event a
memorable success.
Among the special visitors
were Mrs. John Regier, Mr: John
Pethick, " Mrs. A.Y. Mclean,
'Jessic'a Mennell. Special note re
