Linda was • here. for sli ghtly over three 'weeks, spending the first nine days at a camp near Kvanskogen with other interna- tional exchange young people. "Everybody there spoke English and ,we got along great,','„ she said. 'There were 35 kids arid everyone got to know everyone else." The other young people- were from Finland, Turkey, Sweden, Israel, Switzerland, England, France a..- Belgium, but 'Linda was the only one from North America. "Everybody asked me why wasn't 1 at Montreal at the Olympics. They made it sound as if Montreal was the next town to Seaforth," she said. While at the camp Lynda was kept busy touring the countryside and even went cod fishing. She caught two. The main highlight though was mountain climbing. "I hated going up. Coming down was alright, but I really hated going up,'!, she said. 'The Norwegians, were in better shape than We are over here. Most of ,the rest hadn't mountain cl imbed before either •iugh, so I cs dn't have too much Alern," The last two weeks of the Norwegian stay were spent with a host family. Lynda stayed with the Heienberg from Bergen, Ndrway's second largest city. Adjusting to Norwegian family life wasn't too difficult Lyzda said, but not knowing the language bothered her at times. "They would 'always say that this isn't polite, but we can speak Norwegian better than we can English' and then they talk in orwegian. You would agvays wonder what they were saying and 1.yhether they were talking about you or not," she said. "But if something important came on the television or was in the paper, they would translate it for me." Family life in Norway is much the same as in Canada except for eating habits, said Lynda. "At camp • we had cream porridge and raw lamb. I didn't like it too much.
