Rob Tetu of Beechwood Pottery
injured his right hand in an
accident last week and was
unable to write his usual ad.
However, when questioned about
his Sunday store hours, Mr. Tetu
assured the Expositor that
Beechwood Pottery will be open
Sunday as usual, with a good
selection of fine pottery for
Seaforth area customers.

Dennis have returned home to
North BO after visiting with
Ethel arid Elmer Dennis.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Podruck,
B.C. spent a couple of days with
Steve ind Mary Lupul. Mr.
Podruck is a stepbrother of Steve
• Lupul.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ennett of
Edmonton visited last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Con Eckert and Mr.
and Mrs.Art Deyereaux.
Mr. and Mrs. James Lone,
Jamie, Scott and Jeffrey, who
have been visiting the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Crozier, Harpurhey, have left for
Johannesburg, South Africa. Mr.
Lone will be employed with
Bechtel International Ltd.; for a
period of two years. for the,
purpose of building a uranium
refinery. They will visit London
England en route, .

of California visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Crozier.

hoped for. starting at 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Clarke is a 'son of the late
George and Elizabeth (Elliott)
Clarke of Varna and Mrs. Clarke
is a daughter of thelateErnest and
Elizabeth (Winegarden) Epps of
Varna.
-The couple were married
September 1, 1926 at the bride's
home in Varna by the Rev.
R.A.Miller,' an uncle of the
groom. They lived in Varna for a
couple of years before moving,
Winthrop where they ran he
general store for five years. Mr.
Clarke was in the transport
businesg in Seaforth following
their move to the town and in
1939 . he went in to the oil
business, eventUally building a
garage on Main Street in 1946
which he.ran until_ 1960. That year
he was made manager of the
L.C.B.O. store in town. until his
retirement in March, 1971.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke retired to
Barrow Bay near Lions Head
where they have had .a summer
,horne-for 32 Years. Mr. Clarke
said he has a large garden,
mainly flowers, and said the black
bears like his rose hips. They
spend their winters in Arizona,
Active in community affairs,
Mr. Clarke was- president of the
Wedding.

Mrs. Gilchrist Coppin of

Mr, and Mrs. James F. Scott.
Mrs. Jessie Gray bas returned
home having spent the month of
August at Bruce peach,
Lions Head, celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary at the
Seaforth Curling Club. They were
, former residents of Varna and
Seaforth Lions club 1955-56 and
was master of Britannia Lodge.'
No. 170, A.F. & A.M. in 1950
and was first principal of Malloch,
No. 66, in 1951.
Wh ile living in Seaforth the
couple were members . of the'
Seaforth Curling Club.
They have two sons„Dr. Ernest
Clarke of Toronto and Elliott of
Thompson , Manitoba, and two
daughters, Mrs. .Betty'Smith and
Mae Watterworth, (both of
SeafOrth. They have '12
grandchildren. (1-'
Their family held a reception
for them at the Curling Club 'on
Saturday afternoon followed by a
dinner. Three of the guests at
their wedding were on hand for
the anniversary - Mrs. Clarke's
brother, Ellwood of Orillia and
Mr. Clarke's brother, Bill of
Bayfield and a friend, Wilmer
Reid of Varna.
A dinner at Benmiller Inn was
held for the family. On Sunday.
Many gifts and congratulatory
messages were seeeiyed,

The Huron Country
Playhouse will present a free
concert Thursday, Sept 2, at 2:30,
at the Grand Bend professional
theatre. Members of the London
Symphony Orchestra will perform
in the theatre courtyard (weather
permitting). In case of inclement
weather, the audience and
musicians will move inside the
theatre building.
The concert is the culmination
of a series of workshops held
Thursday afternoons this Summer
at the Grand Bend School. The
workshops have covered ."Meet
the Musicians, all that Jazz,.
'Brass is Beautiful, Strings and
Things, and Winds and Reeds."
Playhouse offers free
