the Topnotch Feed Mill Tuesday after a dust
explosion occurred inside the shaft. The explosion
took place when John Gibbings of Huron. Fabricators
was using a cutting torch to remove the top of the
shaft. "All I heard was a bang and I got the hell
down," said Mr. Gibbings. FireMen watered down
the shaft. Damage according to Topnotch general
manager Jim Cunningham "was very minor".

Right on schedule According to
Huron Ag Rep Don , Pullen's
prediction, the rain finally came
Tuesday night, right after most
farmers had started haying. It's
also right on schedule for the
better half andmebecause we're
planning' a short vacation.
After our experience with cold
wet weather on last year's
holidays. I consulted the farmer's
almanac months ago before
booking for any time off work this
summer. My particular almanac
predicts for the entire US and
Canada -so you have to make
allowances. You also have to
interpret a couple of short
phrases.
So with a little optimism, I
converted "unsettled
spell ...then fair." for the end of
this week into a nice time to take a
long weekend trip to Manitoulin
Island,
We're off from Wednesday
night until Monday morning on
our first trip to the island. We all
needed the rain and were glad it
was such a, ground drenching
downpour. But now lets see the
rain turn off' so that both the
haying and our little holiday can

Readers probably couldn't
believe their eyes last week when
they read Elaine Townshend's,.
column about people who' leave
the "h" out of her name, looked
up at the heading and saw that
the Expositor left the whale end
of her name off ... from "s" on.
It's one of the coincidences that
nobody is going to believe we
didn't pull deliberately. Elaine's
last name is spelled wrong on the
sheets that we cut headings out of
every week. They're printed
ahead by the thousands. Every
week when her column is being
laid out , somebody has to
reMember to cut apart the word
"Townsend" and insert an —1"1"
in there. Last week the page was
sent to the camera room without
any of us noticing that half her
name had 'fallen off the waxed
page sheet.
It really was an accident. Sorry
Elaine.
