After the dinner they all came back to the house for a social time. At the close, a buffet was served. The guests of honor "were presented with many lovely gifts. Tuesday evening over thirty staff members of Seaforth Manor and Queensway Nursing Home, Hens saw the film on Friday Safety Code 1001 shown by Mr. George Taylor of Toronto. A resolution of Amaranth Township to the Premier, requesting that the restraint on Tile Drainage Loans be removed was endorsed when flibbert Council met Monday. ' The Township had written twipeXthe Minister of Agriculture requesting the same thing, and also that the Township be considered eligible for some of the extra 3.6 million dollars added to the programme, which was announced in the house on Friday, June 4. Tile Drainage Loans were approved to five ratepayers, to be paid when money became available, and requesting that if they isntalled tile drainage prior to this, they be inspected by the Drainage Commissioner, so as to be eligible for the loan. Payments from General Account was approved in the sum of $88625.10 Which included half yearly school levies, and of $20.,503.57 for roads, which included gravelling. Matt' McCreight, Dublin, .Inspecting Trustee visited with council, and discussed Village drainage, sidewalks, and removal of trees, A low sidewalk in the south east end of the village was referred to Deputy Reeve Harburn to discuss with the County Engineer. James Paratchek, President of Dublin. Lions, petitioned council that a plebiscite be held, at election time, on the township becoming "wet". Reeve McPhail expressed council's opinion, that provided the correct petition was presented, Council would act on it. The clerk was also directed to • ascertain from the Liquor Board, if the Police Village of Dublin Auction raises '300 Correspondent Don MacRae Don MacRae attended the 58th annual Convention of the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association Ontario Branch at the Holiday Inn in Barrie June 4-5.6. The writer feels that attendance at such functions gives one a chance to get other people's opinions and hear their problems and hope to solve them. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snowdop are holidaying in Lake Placid, N.Y. with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bettie of Dutton. They intend to carry on through. the Adirondacks (Mts.) before returning home. Dublin and District Lions Auction Sale was a wonderful success. Sales showed total •over $300.00 after expenses. and ' advertising. Thanks again for the support. The pavilion project still needs help. Lions hope to have it ready for Dublinfests July 17. Early sales help in planning and ordered food so that no one is disappointed. ° Olympic operation 50,000' is still on at the Dublin Post Office for the 2 early bird draws. June 14 and July 14. The final draw for trip for 2 plus $1,500.00 July 28. Mr. Leo Kroonen has returned from Stratford General Hospital and is recuperating at. home.' LCW hears- about stained glass Mrs. Oscar Young opened St. Peter's LCW May meeting in the church sanctuary, the topic feat- uring Jewels of the Church. Devotions began with singing 0 Light from Age to Age, followed by the Scripture lesson Matthew 5:.14-16 read by Mrs. Clara Young. A short meditation entitled Turn on the Light was read, by Mrs. Edwin Scherbarth. The hymn Jesus Bids us Shine with a Pure, Clear Light 'was sung. • Mrs. Oscar Young then gave a brief introduction to the topic concerning the stained glass windows. Mrs. Edwin Scherbarth then conducted a tour of each window and gave a synopsis regarding characters, color and symbols. It was interesting to note that these precious jewel's were all donated by their Bore- fathers at a cost of $3,370 and great tribute is paid to them today for one of the finest churches of the surrounding community. Mrs. Young then concluded with the history of making stained glass windows an art of many centuries coming mainly from the country of Italy. The offering was received and Mrs. Clara Young led prayer in unison. Light of the Anxious Heart was sung closing the devotional, The ladies then returned to the church basement where Mrs. igar Elligsen conducted ' the siness. Roll call was answered What you like best about your Church. Nineteen members and four visitors replied. Communica- tions included two acknowledg- ments regarding feeding the hungry children of Calcutta' and the World Day of Prayer offering of $105.05. The ladies offered to sponsor the church bulletin whenever there is a vacancy. Plans' were made for a bus trip to Niagara Falls on June 7. Invitations have been sent out to •the Stratford, Milverton and Ellice groups for a social• evening on June 2. Mrs. Oliver Hoffmeyer, R.R. 5, Mitchell, will, be the guest speaker, showing slides on her trip to the Holy Land'. The visiting committee' reported several calls made, Mri.
