A community shower was held
in the hall Tuesday evening, April
13th to honour John Wammes
and Cathy Van den Hoven prior to
their marriage on April 24th.
The evening was' spent playing
progressive euchre with the
following winners - Women's
High ; Mrs. W. 'L. Whyte; Lone
Hands - Cathy Van deli Hoven;
Low - MaryMerner; Men's High-
Tony , Van den Hoven; . Lone

John and Cathy were called to
the front of the hall and were
seated in decorated chairs, Helen
Lawson read the address.
• Dear John and Cathy:
We are 'gathered here this
evening to honour y9p,..prjor to
your forthcoming"' mairiage.
We are happy, John, to knoW
that you have decided to remain
in our community. As everyone
knows John is the most popular
person.in the neighbourhood after
a winter storm when he puts his
snowblower to work to dig us out
from behind the drifts. We have
watched you through the years as
you were growing up and it
seemed ,that your one and only
interst was tinkering with
machinery,' motors, cars, etc.
• However, as the years went by
John suddenly found a second
interst. He began to notice the
girls and especially a certain girl
in the Monkton area. Things went
on as usual 'till late in 1975 when
John made it plain to' Mom and
Dad that he was going to take the
' - big step and. that one house was
not big enough for two families.
No 'time was wasted and Dad
secured a building permit for a
new" house. Spring arrived, the
snow was gone, the foundation
was built and the whole
community is .watching for the
arrival of the new house.,
And to y ou, Cathy, we give a
warm welcome to the community:
In recent years it seems that we
have been losing our neighbours,
.therefore, we are delighted to
,haVe someone new move in for a
'change. We hopethat you will be
happy' in your new home and that
' in a very short time we will
become better acquainted.
Lastly John and Cathy we wish
you much happiness in the years
to Come and ask ybir to accept
these gifts from your Friends and
Neighbours.
They were presented with gifts
from the community,, they,.both,
thanked everyone for the gifts
and 'For they are Jolly Good
Fellows' was sung and lunch was
served and a social hour was
enjoyed.
