JOSEPH, SMITH
Funeral • services for the late
,h*pli Smith of 50 Market St.,
Seaforth who passed away at the
Seaforth Community Hospital on
Sunday, April 6 were held at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church in
Brodhagen on Tuesday with the
Revs Karl Scituessler officiating.
.The choir was in attendance and
sang "Unto the Hills"
'accompanied by Mrs. A: Horst at,
the organ. Three favorite, hymns
of the deceased were also sung.
. Pallbearers were Rodney Hinz,
Brian Oldfield, Bradley MacLean,
Tim Hoff,-. Edward Fischer and
Fred Herbert. Flower bearers
were grandchildren • - Diane
Oldfield, Brenda Hoff, Bonnie,
Beverley and Bevin MacLean.
Friends attended from Seaforth,
Stratford, London, Milverton,
Brantford, Mitchell, Carlingford,
Kitchener, Monkton, Bornholm.
Dublin and Brodhagen. Interment
was made in st. Peter's Lutheran
Cemetery, Brodhagen.
Expressions of Sympathy were
shown through floral tribute's,'
and memorials to Lutheran Hour,
Riti Lutheran Villa, Missions, St.
p'eter's Church Improvement
Fund, St. Peter's Cemetery Fund,
Heart Foundation and Cancer
Society.
The Lockhart Funeral Home in
Mitchell were in charge of
arrangements.

MAUDE AUSTIN
Mrs. Maude Austin, a life long
resident of the Blyxtt.acea, died in
Clinton Public Hospital on April
the 2nd 1976. She was 86 years of
age. She was born in Hullett
Township on June 15th 1889. She -
was the formerMaude Saunders.,
daughter of the late LeWis A.
Saunders and Martha Jane
Sanders
She was married to William •
Austin in 1915 and they farmed in
Hullett Township' until his death
when she retired to Its e in Bt. th.
Mrs. Austin was an adherent 'of
the Blyth United Church. -
The funeral service v. as held on
Monday April 5th frorh the Tasker
Funeral Home. with the Rev.
Cecil Wittich officiating.
interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers
were:Calvert Falconer. William
Carter, Gordon Gross. HarN cy
Stewart, Floyd Smith and Lloyd
Stewart.
William Austin served as
flower bearer.

CATHERINE LORETTA
CLEARY
Catherine Loretta Clears , 62. of
Seaforth, died Wednesday at St.
Mary's Hospital in London.
Miss Cleary was born in
Tuckersmith Township. the
. •
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs,1
Brian Cleary. She Was a member
of St. James Catholic •Church in
Seaforth. A long time resident of
Seaforth, she attended school
here and in Stratford and for a
number of years served here as a
telephone operator, Until she
moved to London a few years ago,
resided in the family residence on
East William Street.
She was predeceased by one
brother. James, and one sister,
Mrs. F.P. (Margaret) White.
Misa ClAry is survived by one
brother, William, of London, four
nepheWs and one niece.
The remains rested at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, in
Sea forth. Funeral services were
held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Se.
James Catholic Church conducted
by Father H. J. Laragh.
Buriall followed in St. James
Cemetery.
- Pallbearers were: Patrick
Cleary, William Cleary, Kevin
Cleary, Arthur Devereaux, Lou
Matthews and Jim Matthews..
HAROLD EDGAR ELLIOTT
Harold Edgar Elliott of Varna
died March 25, 1976 at his home.
He was 71.
'Mr. Elliott was born in Stanley
Township, the son of the late
Morton and Lillian Elliott,
On August 11, 1940 , he
married Jean Mossop in the •
Goderich Anglican Church.
In .June 1940, Mr. •glliott_
enlisted in the Armed Forces and
after serving overseas, ihe
returned to Windsor in. 1942,
where he remained until 1946
when he moved to the farm at
Varna.
Surviving besides his wife fean
are two sisters, Ruth, Mrs. Fred
Heard, Stratford; and Muriel,
Mrs. Jack Ferguson, Sudbury;
and two brothers, Alvin,
Stratford; and Roy of .Varna.
He is also survived by nephews
and nieces.
The funeral was held at the Ball
Funeral Home, March 27 with
Rev. Bennett officiating.
Interment followed at the
Bayfield Cemetery.
