Leo Club
elects first
off leers
Seaforth's new Leo Club,
sponsored by the local Lions, has-
elected its first executive. There
are 21 members in the club,
designed for boys and girls aged
from' 13 to 18.
Leo stands for leadership,
experience and opportunity and
the new club 'will get its charter
at a presentation night May 14,
according to Lions advisors bd
Taylor, Ross Ribey • and Keith
Snell.
Mike Scott is the group's first
president. Karen Bennewies is
vice-president and secretary is
Duane Malcolm, with Jim Laverty
as. treasurer. '

at Vanastra

'volunteers are active and I am
Unable to mention them all. Their
Community contribution is just
beginning, but will be a valuable
asset,'in Vanastra. Ken McIlveen
organized the formation of the
Lions Club for Vanastra and
District. Active club members are
Jird Burgess, Bernie Bryan, Wilf
Schneider, Karel Boersma, Ken
Murray, Don McLean and Henry
Bonte Gelok. At Vanastra
baseball, soccer and tennis all
have active volunteer helpers.
The Vanastra Parks and
Recreation Board members are
Dick Lehnen, • Wilf Schneider,
Barry Davis, Rob Gates, Bruce
Collins, Aldon King and from
Tuckersmith Council Elgin
Thompson and Erwin Sillery. This
board is responsible for
recreation at the Vanastra Centre
and indoor pool. .
During the " planning,
construction and parks eleari-up
over 6,000 hours of volunteer
manpower went into the Vanastra
Centre and pool and park
systeni. Because of these
recorded volunteer hours an
additional sum in grants toward
Capital costs was obtained.
Rob Gates and the Vanastra
children spent last Saturday and
three evenings at a spring
clean-up of the large play park.
Wednesday they had a big
bonfire of all the fallen 'branches
and debris collected.
Special Easter services will be
held at the Vanastra Christian
Church Sunday, April 18.
