. 25 In Memoriam
In loving memory of my dear
sister Lena, who passed away 3
years ago, March 13, 1973.
We always remember the way
she looked,
And the way she spoke and
smiled.
The little things she said and
did,
Are with us all the while,
She meant so very much to us.
But nothing we can say,
Can tell the sadness in our
hearts
.,As we think of Lena each day.,
We miss' you. Lena very much
— Always remembered by Mom
and Dad, all your sisters, Nellie
andKatie, Ann, and Brother Bill
Stratychuk. So dearly loved sadly
missed by Albina Gulutzen.

WHITMORE — A tribute of Love
and Remembrance to Ralph E.
Whitmore who left us suddenly
four years ago March 13, 1972.
We little knew when we woke
that mdlning
The sorrow the day would
bring
The call was sudden the shock
severe
To part with one 'we loved so
dear.
Sometimes it's hard to unders-
stand
Why some things have to be
But in His wisdom God has
planned
Beyond our powers to see.
God gave us strength to fight
• And courage to bear the blow
But what it meant to lose you,
• Ralph,
No one will ever know.
— Lovingly remembered' by
Mother, Dad and Karen. 25-35-xl

OFA president Hill said the
legislation should be put in place,
and then farmers can decide to
use it or not.
Mr. Bean also asked for help in
changing inequities, in the agri-
cultural code of practise that puts
restrictions on farm buildings that
don't apply to neighbouring non-
farm, builders. Reeve McCutch-
eon thought the matter would be
changed with input from county
planners when the code is revised
The, code isn't consistent, far-
mers complained. A pig barn has
been built close to Howick Central
School, one man in the audience
said, and the Board of Education
was told that they had ,built in
the country and would have to put
up with the smell. "That barn
could have been built 'farther
away, but it wasn't required;"
one map 'said.
Bert Elliott for the Huron
County Cream Producers said
dairy farmers were going to have
problems meeting IMPIP loans
based on ,high production at a
time when they are being asked to
cut back their production.
The -MPS agreed. Consumers
don't realize that farmers are
tailoring their production to what
the market requires, Gordon Hill
..said. "Consumers also _don't
know that :a big chunk comes off
farmer's payments-to ship powth'
ered milk overseas," McKinely
said.
There's been "practically no
money since last fall" in the Farm
Credit Corporation and that's
why farmers wait so long after
they get approval to get their
money, Mr. McKinley told the
Huron FA members. More money
be available when the govern-
ment's new year starts April 1.
When Maurice Bean argued
that FCC loans should have a
ceiling so that young farmers
don't get too deeply in debt, Jack
Riddell replied that a farmer has
to be able to purchase the land he
needs instead of agricultural land
going to perhaps a doctor or
lawyer who has got the money' to
buy„ it. "Would land,sell at a high
value if these large sums ((FCC
loans) weren't available?" Mr.
Bean asked. Mr. Riddell said he
thought speculation and Short-
ages of farm land have put more
pressure on prices per acre.
Varna area farmer° Jake Van
Wonderen asked why govern-
ments couldn't put pressure on
banks, for example, to make sure
Farm Improvement loans, gover-
nment badked and at lower than
prime rate, were available. '
Shop' for credit and use one
bank against another, was Mr.
Hill's advice. Bank managers
need farmers. "Educate your
local bank manager, invite him to
your farm. So what if the
neighbours think you're in finan-'
cial trouble," he joked.
All" three elected .members
agreed with .Huron Pork Pro-
ducer's president Elmer Harding
that seat belt wearing shouldn't'
have been made. compulsory.
Murray Gaunt said an incentive,
like saying, OHIP won't pay you
hospital, bills if' you're injured
-while not wearing seat belt,
would have been more effective.
