Herein Ontario, any woman, married or not, should be granted credit in her own name if her credit qualifications, propertypr earnineare such that a man with the.same, ealifications would receive credit. That is the eseerie of Ontario's new Equal Credit Opportunity Guidelines. All major credit grantors in the Province have endorsed these guidelines, on the basis that equality of access to credit is a right, even though credit itself is a privilege. In practice, the Guidelines outline the following principles: • hold men'and women to the same standards of Credit worthiness • refrain from refusing to extend credit, to a woman because of a change in her marital status • refrain from requesting or using information about family planning in evaluating credit applications • consider a spouse's income, if necessary, when a couple applies for credit ' • consiOr"limbny and, child support as a source of income , • not alter a person's credit rating solely on the baSis of the credit rating of the spouse • allow husband and wife to have , separate files with credit reOdrting agencies. ,for a free booklet giving the Guidelines in detail, and covering the entire subject of women's access to credit, write: Ontario Consumer Queen's Park Toronto, Ontario ministry of Corsunter and Comniendial Relations Sidney liandlernan, Minister . That's ahead of schedule as the sewer agreement calls forcom- pletion by June, 1977, clerk Bob Heil said. Mr. Manuel, who is with the ministry's industrial waste section, went over a sample sewer bylaw regulating wastes that can be emptied into the sewer and processed in the treatment, plant. He said a long list of chemicals were prohibited, along with oil in large amounts, hair, toenails, horns, bones, and feathers, "It's mainly intended to cover a Slaughterhouse," he said. The ministry 'spokesman said, anyone who was polluting even- tually would have to connect 'to the village's sewers. Clerk Heil said that 'under the bylaw people would have nine months to connect themselves; after that the municipality could make the connection and charge the pro- perty owner. "I hope ,,re don't get too many of them", Reeve John Baker commented. Few would hook up before 1977, the reeve t h ocuoguhnt c. But councillors decided to old off on discussion of the Hensall Parks Board budget, requesting about $11,000 until the April council meeting, because councillors Paul Neilands and Harold Knight were away. A „grant from the province of 59388.47 for, renovations,to• the arena and hall will be passed on to the Parks Board. "We paid $17,000 to fix the arena, they get the grant," Reeve Baker said. , Councillors looked at a first stage land use map of the village drawn up by the Huron County Hens's."Ilitewers ahead of, schedule plan. There is land available for development in some areas of the village, but it's land locked, Reeve Baker pointed out. A developer planning to build apartments in the village will, be asked to talk details with the county planners, so that whatever is built conforms with Hensall's plan, councillors decided. A copy of the environment ministry's latest dump inspection report called everything there "satisfactory". "They must have picked a good day", Reeve Baker said. Two applications for loans under the Ontario Home Renewal Program were approved. Clerk Heil said he'll be applying for more money from the, province and he assured the reeve that. the village gets paid by the province for administering, the program.
