The Flyers continued their.
drive for third place with a big 6 -
2 win over the. Kings last Sunday
night. The Hakvks finally broke a
two-month winless streak by
whipping the last place Stars 6'-
-3.
The late game of the evening
saw the Wings stop the Blues 7 -'5
and maintain their hold on first
place.
The Flyers evened their record
at six wins and six losses with the
win over the Kings. ,Clive Buist
lead the winners with d three goal
hat trick.
Bob Watson, Jack, Baker and
Toe McLean added single scores
for the Flyers. The Kings got
goats from George Reeves and
Dale Kennedy.
The Kings were ' missing
several key players and •the
resulting loss leaves them only
one point ahead of the surging
Flyers. The Flyers are 6 - '2 in
their last eight games. They also
hold a game in hand over the
Kings. More important
however, if the two teams should
tie, is the fact that the ,Flyers won
the season series 2-1 with the
Kings.
"The Hawks finally won a
hockey game last Sunday night.
They ended a horrendous two
month. famine , in which they
compiled a 0-8-I mark. They
broke out" of .their slu'mp at the
expense Of the hapless Stars. The
two clubs had a battle going' for.
last place for the most part of the
season. Both teams kept losing so
no one gained any ground. It now_
appears as if the Stars have
clinched the cellar. The Hawks
are out in- front of them by 3
points now' and any. combination
of nothing totalling by either team
will give the Hawks fifth spot -in
the standings.. '----- • .
The Stars cannot really be
blamed for their poor showing.
They have 'lost so many players
this season that it is just a task in
itself to:get ,a team on the ice.,
They have played spirited hockey
and have kept most of the 'games
reasonable. They deserve. till the

Danny
Muir scored the Wings first
period goals. The Blues then went
on a three goal spree with Art
Strong, Greg Rau and Akker, with
his second, to go ahead 5-4. It.
appeared as if the Blues were on
their way to a big victory. Then
the roof fell in. Ken Doig, Dave
Broome and Brian Leonhardt all
scored within a 3 minute span to
push the wings to victory.
The loss leaves the Blues four
points behind the Wings with
each team- having three games
left to play. A Blees loss or Wing
victory will give the league title to
the Wings.,
I.H:L. Notes
There have now ,been 24 hat
tricks in the 4.H.L. this season.
Danny Muir became the first
player ever to get 20 assists in one
season. He accomplished the feat
last Sunday night.
Four others have a snort chance
at a 20 assist season also, they are
Bill Price, Ken Doig, . Brian
Leonhardt and Dave Broome.
The Wings are the most
penalized team in the .I.H.L., 184
minutes." The Stars are second
with 168 minutes. The Blues are
the least penalized with I 1 1
minutes in the cooler.
Gary Osbourne holds a 5 goal
lead over Ross Govier in the race
for the "Vezina" trophy. The line
of Muir, Broome and Leonhardt
have totaled 102 scoring points
this season...the most ever for
one line in the I.H.L. Don Papple
is the I.H.L. bad man this
season..his 54 minutes in penal-
ties leads the league. ".
