The members of the Grand Board ,
of the Petrone of Industry met in
Toronto with 16 of the Patrons
members -00410 confer about the
action to be taken by the members
on behalf of the order during the;
coming session of the Legislature and
for the purpose of organization. I
The meeting throughout was of
the most harmonious character, and
the greatest unanimity of sentiment
prevailed in the passing of several
resolutions, Grand President Mallory
presided by request of the members
until the organization was perfected.

Ontario Government or for the fur-
nishing of a free residence or supplies
of any kind to that official be here-
after prohibited by legislation.
Resolved, That beyond the salary
attached to any office there shouldbe
no allowance

Resolved, That while we approve
of the principle of • the payment by
fees, the amount retained by officials
ehould be fixed by a fair remunera-

Resolved, That a bill should be
passed in accordauce with plank No.
7 of the Patrons' platform ; that the
existing system of inspection of county
offices be continued ; the office be
held during efficiency- and good be-
havior.
Resolved, That clause 1G of the
Medical Act be' repealed and that
the power of the Medical Council to
annul the certificate of any physician
regularly authorized by the faculty
of any duly chartered college to
practice medicine be asbrogated, and
that all charges of fraud or wrong-
doing macre against any medical
man shall be tried by the ordinary
courts on the same principles and
under the same procedure as applies
to - criminal acts committed by.
others.
Also, That all enactments confer-
ring special privileges upon the legal
fraternity be repealed.
The following resolution was passed
by a standing vote of all the mem-
bers :
Resolved, That we pledge our-
selves to vote and act unitedly on
all questioner declare by the Patron
members to be Patron questions ;
and we hereby declare our deter-
mination to resist all attempts at
coalition or affiliation with dither of
the existing parties.

Alfred John Deane, of OL'iliia, ap-
peared before His Honor Judge La -
course of Berlin, Wednesday of last
week, on three charges of fraud.
The first two charges were brought
against him by people whom he had

guilty and sentence was deferred.
