In Memory of Mr. Thomas Clark, who de-
parted this life, March 29th,1894.
How passed his days ? did sorrow vail
The rays of gladness from his soul ?
Did grief enthral life's fitful gale,
Or pleasure's throb his heart control ?
Tn
everf changeful, fitful scene.
Did Heaven en rapture life's swift dream?
March silent down his path of years,
O'er manhood's task from sportive boy,
And mark it well, his mirths, his tears,
Each sigh of grief, each song of joy,
Eaeh kindness that uis hand has
wrought,
Lett none of all be e'er forgot.
Harp of Green. Isle, for him no more
Will angers sweep the trembling chord,
Joy in your numbers now is o'er,
Old Erin's Isle his heart adored,
Among the shamrocks of the spring
No more to him the lark will sing.
In. Canada his home at last,
Beside the Maitland rippling strearn,
He learned an anthem sweet and vast,
Vast as Heaven's eternal beam;
And,peace and gladness from on nigh
Proclaimed his soul will never die.
Yet mourn we, though his earthly
days
have overreached the allotted time,
But we shall meet whet a sweeter praise
Wilt roll far o'er the eternal clime,
And harps to which earth's thrills are
tame,
Their notes will swell his Saviour's name.
The flowers that bloom on nature's
vale,
In springtime's verdant Sylvan shade,
Their beauty dies, they.droop, they
fail,
But in his home will never fade ;
One hour in Heaven bis joy is mere
Than all that he has known before.

Seventy guests sat down to asumptu-

The presents were numerous and
costly, showing the high esteem in
which the bride was held. They

many friends.

last week Wm. Brown, 3rd line, was
found dead ht his bed by Arthur
Chutelon and John Ellis who broke
the door open. The old gentleman
was seen on Wednesday evening
when he was apparently in good
health and had aided in sharpening
a scythe. He lived alone as Mrs.
