convincing margins. —
Saturday, in London, the
Pertnguese "B" team was
defeated by, a score of 4-0.
Portuguese started the game with
only 9 players. Two more decided
to quit after receiving minor
injuries and finally the team
decided not to continue with the
game.,0fily about 30 minutes had
been played and had the game
been completed the score would
probably, have reached double
figures. Scoring for St. Columban
were Brian Murray with 2, Brad
Finlayson and Gard Dick.
On Sunday, the local , club
played the strongest half of the
year, opening up 'a 4-0 lead and
then coasting to a 4-1 victory
over the London Yugoslays. The
whole team played superbly,
charging the ball from the
opening whistle and never giving
the London team a moment's
relief. Four players each
contributed a goal forwards
Brian Murray, Paul Coyne and
Brad Finlayson and fullback Bill
Docking. The Yugoslays scored
just as the first half ended. The
second half produced 'more
scoring chances but an inability to
hit the net left the final score the
same as at half time.
NOTES-.
— Sunday's game was the last
home game of the year. One
game remains to be played in
St. Thomas.
Seaforth Centennaires playing
without two aegulars, came from
behind with two last minute goals
to gain's 7.7 tie with the Clinton
Mustangs. Both teams played
fast, hard hockey.
Seaforth opened the scoring as
Randy McClinchey converted
p ses from Don Nicholson 'and
Dave McClure only to see Clinton
even the count as Barry 'Lane
replied.
Clinton moved in front 2 - 1 as
Paul Priestap scored. Seafoith
fought back as Don Nicholson
scored the first of three Ito even
the score at 2 apiece as the,Petiod
ended.
The second period saw Seaforth
score twice in the first minute as
Rick McDonald and Gord
Carnochan scored bgth assisted
by' Randy McClinchey.Dave
McClure then scored from
McClinchey and Nicholson to
move Seaforth up 5-2.
Clinton' came' storming hack
with, two quick goals' as Randy
Miller and Neil Colquhoun scored
to narrow the margin to 5,4,
Penalties
The third period saw .Clinton
take advantage of. penalties
score three quick gOais, as OLIO_ •
Kennedy, Randy Miller and 440P
Colquhoun all scored within a
minute to move Clinton in font
by a 7:5 count.
Seaforth fought back but
couldn't find the mark until the
lait minute of play when Don
Nicholson scored twice on passes
from McClinchey and McClure to
even the score at 7 all.
A total of twenty-six penalties
were called with each team
collecting 13 but Seaforth's
including a major and a 10 minute
misconduct.
Both teams played extremely
well as there was little to choose
betwen the two.
